What an enchanting place suffused with so much history! You could feel the ghosts of Henry the VIII and his wives and mistresses wandering the gardens and the halls. We were luck with the weather - sunshiny and summerlike - and spent the late afternoon and early evening sitting out in one of the gardens listening to the blackbird songs. The dinner in the library was excellent - everything prepared with infinite care and attention. And the service was attentive but not intrusive. The gardens, a recent labor of love, are just now coming into full realization. A perfect stay.

Simply a fantastic place to stay. We felt like kings staying there. Uber taxis to Bristol and Cardiff were easy to arrange regardless of the location. I would highly recommend this place

Everything! The place was very clean and it was prepared so nice for our stay. Lovely Christmas decorations around and inside the hut. We stayed with our dog, and there was everything that he could need prepared: bowls, towel and even some treats! We were unlucky with the weather but even then the owners helped us as much they could! Definitely looking forward to visit this place again but in the better weather!

The fact I got to mix golf with work is always a bonus. The food was good, as I thought it would be. I would like there to be a Breakfast included option for guests staying in the lodge. I look forward to staying there again.

Check in via the golf club was good, the restaurant/bar was very welcoming with good views of the golf course. Meals were good, both evening and breakfast. Good choice of drinks and food and people appeared to be enjoying the ambience, whether golfers or not! Lodge room was comfortable, shower excellent, nice and powerful, refreshing for a warm day. Because it is some way from the golf course, it is fairly quiet. I will definitely stay here again.

OMG a real life castle that Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn stayed in!!! And it felt like it was just how it would have been when they were there! We loved everything about this hotel - from the winding stone staircase to our room, to the panelled walls, the four-poster bed, leadlight glass in the windows, the incredibly beautiful gardens and even the molehills in the lawn. It is just an opportunity not to be missed and we were so disappointed we couldn't stay longer!

A cosy and welcoming establishment, with very friendly and accommodating staff. It's a cracking old pub with plenty of character, that serves some great food, including the breakfast which was cooked to perfection. Spacious rooms, nice bathroom facilities, all very clean and well kept. The complimentary chocolate bars and water in the room was a nice touch too ☺️ Would definitely recommend staying at the Swan if visiting in and around Thornbury.

Loved the rural location and peace and quiet. Lots of walking from the doorstep and in the area. Very comfortable accommodation with great cooking facilities. A relaxing holiday in all!
