This is a lovely local place to stay on Gan. The owners are so kind and welcoming, like being a part of their own home and family. They cooked amazing fresh fish for us on a few nights, held a bbq with some of the locals and the breakfast was a great selection of tropical fruit and eggs. The room was spotless clean and modern. They even had a great set up with an outdoor sink and hose to clean our diving equipment. Really recommend staying here! A wonderful experience.

Il Six Senses Laamu è un resort di lusso sostenibile circondato da acque turchesi e da spiagge di sabbia bianca. From the moment we set foot on the property to the time we left, we were in heaven. I walked off the boat to use the restroom and watched two stingrays and parrotfish swim underneath me. This was about how hard it was to spot sea life. During our stay we effortlessly swam with turtles, eagle rays, sharks and even bottlenose dolphins (a first, apparently, for the snorkel trip). We chose this resort because of the house reef and we were not disappointed. It is the best snorkeling I’ve experienced in the whole world and I’ve been all over. Do not miss the snorkel trip that takes you to an even more stunning reef, if that’s even possible. This is a “barefoot luxury” resort that is stunning and subtle, with tons of delightful touches that were unexpected. There is: - Complimentary homemade sorbet, ice creams and popsicles - many which are dairy free and made with coconut milk. - A sugarcane hut giving out shots of fresh squeezed sugar cane - The most gorgeous beachfront spa with the most talented masseuses - An organic garden where they grow a lot of their greens and herbs - The best breakfast buffet of all time, if you like organic, healthy, probiotic food - Comfy lounge beds everywhere - Perfectly groomed bike roads - Butler service that’s actually responsive and helpful unlike every other place I’ve ever stayed that has a butler I’m not usually this superlative about places but this one deserves it.

Weak wifi. Lots of corals that hurt the feet, shoes are necessary, seaweed in the afternoon (see pictures). Unsuitable for swimming: shallow water - ankle-deep at low tide and waist-deep at high tide. There is a manmade swimming channel in front of the bar, quite limited. Therefore, the only snorkeling possible is through an excursion. We tried swimming in the lake, but the water is very warm there, it’s like swimming in a bathtub and in addition the water is dirty (see pictures). There is a pipe bringing the sewage of the hotel to the open ocean from behind the port, you can even see it on the satellite if you look closely. Depending on tide/current, this water comes back into the lake. Apart from lack of beach/swimming, the worst was the transfer issues and the complete disregard of customers.
