It’s housed in the characterful 19th-century Canterbury College complex, now an arts precinct, where the old departmental inscriptions are still visible on the façades. The hotel occupies the former science wing and is beautifully, thoughtfully updated—calm, quiet, and genuinely comfortable. I loved the interior palette: the rooms are styled with exceptional color sense, and the bed was both generously sized and very comfortable. Breakfast is served in a small upstairs room with a little terrace, and the ground floor offers several spacious lounges with a library, 24-hour coffee and tea, and a desk area—great for relaxing or catching up on work.

Property is in a very good location, around a nice 10 min walk into the town area/ the famous church. Lovely view from the room out on to the lake and if you’re lucky enough to be on the 2nd floor there is a skylight where you can view the stars. A nice touch. Breakfast also good. You order what you want so little wastage, which is a good idea. The staff are also very friendly. The receptionist on duty when we arrived was very helpful with some tips on where to walk etc.

We used the BBQ 3 nights, great!
