Fantastic big wooden bungalow right by the river with netting on ceiling and windows, so we were protected from mosquitos. Feeling like sleeping outdoors in the jungle. Comfortable beds, even a hairdryer, which was not provided in many other hotels! Emmanuel and his family are very welcoming. They have a water dispenser for people to use on their terrace. One morning I was thirsty and thought I go quietly to get some water, as not to wake anybody up - only to be greeted by several "hola's" from Antonia. She with all the other animals are a delight to watch. Highly recommend to stay there. We also ate there and the cooking was very good. Emanuel organised a trip for us, we were totally looked after. We were picked up by our bungalow by boat, dropped off again and Emanuel's son awaited us with a torchlight as it was dark.

Enai is located in the forest, on the shore of the Madre de Dios River, 15 minutes from the city of Puerto Maldonado. Enai has a restaurant, outdoor pool, bar and garden. Hotel Enai struck the perfect balance between comfort and high standards, all set in an exotic location that made the experience truly memorable. The hotel itself was beautifully maintained, with modern, clean, and comfortable rooms that offered a relaxing retreat after each day’s adventure. The excursions available were genuine highlights – not just standard tours, but real adventures that gave us a sense of discovery and connection with the surroundings. It felt like exploring, not just sightseeing. The food was consistently excellent, with a variety of dishes that were both fresh and full of flavour. Every meal was a pleasure. What really stood out, though, was the staff. They were always welcoming, friendly, and happy to help with anything – it made the whole experience feel warm and personal. Overall, a fantastic stay. I’d highly recommend Hotel Enai to anyone looking for a unique and comfortable escape.

Hacienda Herrera Tambopata ligt in Puerto Maldonado met uitzicht op de tuin en heeft een restaurant, een 24-uursreceptie, bar, tuin en terras. Er is gratis WiFi. Het eten was echt heerlijk en elke dag wat anders. En de tour guides (shoutout naar Chris) zijn vriendelijk én weten ontzettend veel van de dieren en de omgeving. 10/10 aanrader!

Kapievi Ecovillage biedt accommodatie in Puerto Maldonado en beschikt over een vegetarisch restaurant. De accommodatie ligt op 15 minuten rijden van het belangrijkste plein van de stad. We really liked the lush jungly atmosphere. The property and each accomodation types were built and decorated with taste. We would recommend individual rooms over bungalows:)

Refugio Chabelita Hostel beschikt over een tuin, een restaurant, een bar, en biedt accommodatie in Puerto Maldonado met gratis WiFi en uitzicht op de tuin. The staff were very nice and very helpful. On the day of arrival in the afternoon they took us on a short tour of surroundings where they showed us local plants and the river. We event got to taste the raw cacao beans. They helped us call and order taxi because we don’t speak Spanish and Uber doesn’t work here. They have a small shop with fruits, bread, sweets and salts. Breakfast was excellent. We got avocado every day. With some rice, eggs or tamales. We also got bread and coffee or tea.

Posada Casa Bonita bevindt zich in Puerto Maldonado en biedt een buitenzwembad, een gedeelde lounge en een bar. Great place to chill for a few days. All rooms are equpipped with fan and AC and private bathroom and fridge. Clean place all over. Theres a bar, a beautiful pool and the host is fantastic and very friendly. Even took us out to buy some food anf other stuff. Helped us with everything. This place wilk make you chill out. Its worth it. There is harldy anything bad we can mention.

CHOMI HOUSE TAMBOPATA bevindt zich in Puerto Maldonado en biedt accommodatie met een buitenzwembad, gratis WiFi, een tuin en een terras. Elmer and his family, the owners, are lovely. We really felt welcome and looked after like special guests. They own a basic but lovely log cabin with a pool on their property. We stayed there one night before doing our 3 days trip into the Amazon and it was perfect. They did provide local breakfast as part of the room fees and a lovely dinner at a reasonable price.

Quirquincho House Lodge bevindt zich in Puerto Maldonado met uitzicht op de tuin en heeft een restaurant, een gedeelde lounge, snackbar, tuin en terras. The property has two individual bungalows that are very spacious, with high ceilings, good bathroom and fly screens all around the windows. Nicolas is absolutely wonderful, very kind, very friendly and very respectful. He can organise daily tours, they were excellent. The tours were with small groups (less than 8 pax). Nicolas cooked very tasty meals. The property is located away from town, which means you have lovely nature around you, but Nicolas was very helpful in driving us to places we needed. The bungalows had a balcony, wifi and hot showers. The two dogs that live there are truly beautiful, we miss their cuddles already. Nicolas helped us find birds and a sloth nearby. There are squirrel monkeys nearby. The property is located near other resorts if you need a pool or river access. We enjoyed this property for its local community and wildlife, its excellent value for a small business. My only recommendation would be to have a tea/coffee making facilities available all day, and a large shower mat to catch excess water.

ROSA'S HOUSE is gelegen in Puerto Maldonado en heeft een tuin, een gedeelde lounge en een barbecue. Er is gratis privéparkeren en de accommodatie biedt betaalde shuttleservice naar deze luchthaven. Amazing garden full of so many tropical trees and medicinal plants which you can use as herbs for tea. And there are so many cute animals that step into the garden. To see the prehistoric bird, Hoazin/Shanso to fly behind the house in front of you is a nice treat. Also you can see in the morning squirells, capibaras and monkeys and in the night tarantulas. I staid for 5 days and there were no mosquitos.
