I live in Loja, a 50 minute taxi drive from the Catemayo (Loja) airport ... unless there are mud slides or other 'acts of nature'. So I decided to leave Loja on the day before an early morning flight to Quito on the regional airline. I stayed overnight at Gran Hotel Marcjohns, in downtown Catemayo, very close to the airport. The hotel staff were very welcoming. They arranged for a taxi pickup at 5:30 a.m. I slept well the night before, confident that I would arrive at the airport on time. I had a 4th floor room with a view of downtown Catemayo. The room was spacious, well appointed with dark wood furniture. The bed was comfortable, with crisp sheets and fluffy pillows. Windows offered a 180 degree view of downtown. I would choose this hotel again.

The owner was very nice and helpful. He let me use his bus card, which was very convenient, short walk to catch the bus. I did put money on the bus card, which is more than fair. Would stay there again.
