The family went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and at home. We felt part of their family. The rooms were clean and cosy. The breakfast was beyond tasty and amazing, along with the dinners they offer too. They accommodate every need and helped us find activities to do every day, giving us tour guides or advice. We did 3 nights originally and loved it so much we extended to 5 nights. We got to speak to their other welcoming family members/ neighbours and even attend the local wedding party as part of the family. Best Homestay we have had in our 6 month travel, we will be back :)

Peter and his little family are absolutely gorgeous. Welcoming and accommodating. And if you are into coffee, he’s always happy to share a cup of his own roasted coffee, culture and traditions. Terima kasih lovelies. I hope we cross paths again.

We stayed two nights with Peter and his family and we miss it already!
It was the best homestay we stayed at in Flores!! We felt soo welcome and at home from the moment we arrived.
The room was nice and Had everything we needed. We joined a wedding and a ceremony which was soo nice to experience!
We also had a walk to the ricefields. We really enjoyed the area as its in a quiet area of ruteng.
We can highly recommend staying here and we will be back for sure. Thanks for everything:)

- Hotel owner really helped us out prior to travelling to Flores and arranged for overland transfers from Labuan Bajo to Ruteng and then from Ruteng to Bajawa. Both drivers had good English and were reasonably priced. Thank you very much to Dolvi (staff at Ara) for driving us and being so patient with the construction on the way and driving us to dinner that evening.
- Large, spacious and clean room.
- Beautiful surrounding gardens. The properties back on to a bamboo forest and river.
- Simple and nice breakfast. We were served fresh avocado which came from the tree on-site.
- Recommend to visit the spider web rice fields which are close by.

A very dirty, busy city.
A very dirty, busy city. Easy to be run over and huge holes in the sidewalks. Best not to stay here. There are no restaurants. To see the Spiderweb Rice fields it is best (if traveling by car) to just stop there on your way through (takes maybe 1/2 hour) and continue on

Higly recommended to everyone who wants to really enjoy the Ruteng and surrounding area, Waerebo village included (you can get there by motorbike). Ino and his family are awesome people, willing to help you with everything you need or want. You really become the member of the family. I would definitely come back if I visit Flores again. Breakfasts are so delicious and different every day (Im vegan and they prepared special meal for me, but I felt like a queen), beds are so comfy, they have hot shower, you can chill out at the garden or in the shed where you can also cook by yourself. They will give you valuable information and recommendations on places you should visit.. and there is much more. In the end, we are speechless, this stay exceeded our expectations.

Ruteng is so much more than a pit stop on the long journey between Bajawa and Labuan Bajo. It has spectacular scenery, many things to visit and a vibrant local culture. I particularly enjoyed being driven around the area, watching the sun rise over the rice fields, going to the cave where the bones of Homo Floriensis were found and having a picnic by a beautiful waterfall. The local traditions, including the division of land by the spiderweb method, are fascinating.
