If your used to the Hilton its not for you.
If your used to the Hilton its not for you. If you are ok with clean and close to local environment, it's good. Its not fancy. Its clean. The concierge is attentive. And there are nice local walks. And a cement walkway just down the the same street the hotel is on. That goes along the river. No one was on it. I really enjoyed it. I stayed 2 nights. I put the do not disturb sign on my door. No one bothered my room. The locals smiled. And were friendly. Its a small street town. Not a tourist corporate town. A local vendor town. If your looking for hustle and bustle its not here. The Cafe next door did have activity until around 8pm. The Hotel was not far from the friendship bridge. And Tuk Tuks were available apon arrival and took me straight to the hotel. They knew where it was. There was several Tuk Tuks waiting every morning to take you back to the Thai immigration port. 200 baht.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

A great city to do a border run, particularly if you stay at Fortune Riverview Hotel Chiang Khong - which seems to be the nicest accommodation in the area. We enjoyed our stay here quite a bit and would return.Guest review byRobertUnited States - 10.0
We really enjoyed walking up to the fort built in 1900.
We really enjoyed walking up to the fort built in 1900. The coffee, view of the town and Mekong river were excellent. The food at the various restaurants was very tasty. We met some locals; who took us to the morning market.Guest review byRichardUnited States - 8.0
Chiang Khong, a lovely little town next to the river.
Chiang Khong, a lovely little town next to the river. Views are amazing and the food is good. It is not very big so staying for an extended time may be dull for some. Great for relaxing and quiet. Excellent for walking and/or riding bicycles.Guest review byKKC68United States - 8.0

Very pleased we decided to stay here rather than going onto Chiang Rai after a second long day on the slow boat. One-horse town but with several good little restaurants all within a couple of minutes walk from where we stayed. Staying here also meant that crossing the border the following morning was very easy as noone was around.Guest review bysleeveinspainSpain - 8.0
I liked to have riverview.
I liked to have riverview. We had two single beds that we rearranged such that they were mire close to eachother. Not perfect but ok. For one person the bed was too hard, for the other it was good. Was great to be on the (small) balcony to look at the river, but there were no seats. I used the pool, but at the time of the day the two high building on the side avoided all sunshine to warm up the water. We also had to use our own towels from the room, one per person. Checkout was fast without checking the room. Few hours after we left, we were in Chiang Rai already, staff called us that they we left behind a watch. They agreed to send it to our home in Chiang Mai. Great service that we really appreciate.Guest review bySterkNetherlands
