The accommodation is located about 400m from the beach. One sleeps there very quietly. The equipment, especially the kitchen, is complete. It is very spacious. The price-performance ratio is very good. The hosts took great care of us, as it rained about 80% of the time during our stay. They recommended a trip with a miniature railway ("Awakeri Rail Adventures"). There we were alone with the operator Paul, because of the weather. Afterwards, if it rains, you can go to the "Hot Pools" in Awakeri.
The outdoor seating, which is covered, should be mentioned positively against the background of rainy weather. All in all, we had lovely days in this accommodation, despite the weather.

The location was away from the main road very quiet. Would recommend this place as a very nice very clean well looked after accommodation and comfortable place to come back to and unwind .

Incredibly central, very friendly lady on the desk who pointed me to the Sunday craft market which was a lot of fun. Older building but very very clean and comfortable. A great place to stay with the dogs.

It was nice to be close to the beach but for the price you...
It was nice to be close to the beach but for the price you pay it's not worth it, no milk tea or coffee, you have to take you own bedding and towels and for the price I could have got a motel or hotel close to the beach for a lot cheaper and wouldn't have had to pack bedding and towels etc.

not many restaurant options are in Thorton itself - you do need to travel to Whakatane. the room itself does have cooking facilities - so bring food with you as you can virtually just stay at Thorton the whole time if you are organised and prepared well enough.
