This is a lovely "beach house" in a rather "off-the-beaten-track" part of Japan, at least outside of high summer season. It's actually not on the beach but exudes that vibe and is only a ten minute walk from the proper seaside. Great sauna, beautifully clean, and easy access. The neighborhood is more traditional and lovely, but dining options are limited for those without transport.

The house tastefully design with a modern touch and fully furnished with all needed essential. Check-in needed some IT savvy, iPad was given and need to fill up all individual particulars. Car park conveniently located at the house entrance. Certainly will recommend this lovely house.

The shikibutons were good if you stacked a couple but if only one then they were just okay. It’s right on the water so the sunsets are some of the best I’ve ever seen. Karaoke at night was a blast and the host is a cool guy to hang with.

A Hagi, a 2,5 km da Shokasonjuku Academy e 2,5 km da Shoin Shrine, 古民家1棟貸し 今魚店の家 offre un alloggio con servizi quali WiFi gratuito e TV a schermo piatto. We loved the house, the location, and the town! As photos show, this is a very traditional, lovely Japanese house, fully renovated with understated elegance, with 2 large tatami rooms, and western comfort in the master bedroom (two very comfy beds, armchairs and table) and bathroom (with ensuite shower); it has a charming front garden, and an orchard of the famous Hagi natsumikan at the back. The location is ideal, in what probably was temple grounds, 3 mn walk to a local supermarket, 5 mn from the spectacular beach, 10 mn from the merchants' quarter, 30 mn to samurai quarter. There is easy parking space for 1 (or 2 small cars). You'll see the iconic old wall with tiles every time you leave the house. Communication with the owner was fine, though he or she wrote in Japanese (easily translates with Google trad). The young lady who welcomed us spoke good English and could point out surrounding restaurants ; the house mainly caters for Japanese speaking guests, but they also have prepared recommandations in English. Hagi is a fabulous destination ; there is so much to see in and around the city, worth staying 2 or 3 days! We'd love to be back.

The room is in Japanese style. larger than any other hotels we have been in Japan. Enjoy the stay.
