This might be the nicest place we have stayed since beginning extended travel in retirement. It was a bit more than our budget, but we cooked our dinners to compensate, which worked out well as we really enjoyed being there in the evenings. The photos do a great job of showing the large bedroom, bathroom, and full kitchen. It's decorated like a home rather than a hotel, and has a large deck with a lovely view of the marina. It does take 10-15 minutes to walk into town, depending on your destination, but it's a lovely walk. We were able to arrange a ride into town with our luggage the morning we departed as we had already dropped a car off.

It has everything you need for a short break away. It is so well thought out for groups of friends staying together. Even the sofa bed in the lounge has direct access to a bathroom without inconveniencing anybody. The apartment was spotless. The balcony out over the marina was a lovely place to drink wine and chill as the sun set. It is so well placed for any of the restaurants and cafés in Picton and great for early morning starts for cruises. We won’t stay anywhere else in Picton now. Great parking too.

We absolutely loved our stay! Once we figured out the transportation to get to the lodge, everything was easy and well organized. It’s a fabulous place to be both active and relax: it’s right on the Queen Charlotte Track, we borrowed the kayaks, and we swam in the water. We also enjoyed sitting in the hammocks and relaxing in the hot tub. The food was delicious (though I found the prices a bit high for NZ) and enjoyed in their lovely dining room or patio. The service was great! We can’t wait to come back!

Te Mahia Bay Resort offers accommodation in Kenepuru Sounds. The resort has a barbecue and a private beach area. A TV with satellite channels. Unpretentious, quirky and brilliant hospitality. Fabulous location. Highly recommend.

Flaxbourne Motels is located in Ward. Each room here will provide you with a TV. There is a full kitchen with an oven and a refrigerator. Clean, modern, well looked after, quiet location, ideal for the island ferry transfer. The local beach (8 minute drive) is lovely too

There were lots of toys and activities to enjoy. The vegetation on property was beautiful. The view from my room was beautiful. Such a relaxing environment. The common kitchen has all the cooking tools you'd need and is super clean. There are great books to exchange. Minimal bugs.
