Wellies is a simple hotel but I am very surprised by the sizes of the rooms as most hotel rooms in Japan are tiny. The family suite managed to accommodate 2 adults and 4 girls and 7 luggages! Its location is very good too!! The owners and staff are exceptionally kind and helpful. I had a really bad backache after a day of skiing; they drove out and bought me pain plasters to ease my backache! When my sister lost her phone at the Prince outlet, they again drove her back to retrieve it!! It was difficult for us to get taxis due to the peak season and our group size; the very sweet hotel staff would send us to the ski resort or pick us up if they were free at that time. I would definitely recommend Wellies for anyone who travels to Karuizawa! Thank you for making our stay so special!

Oh my god, where to start? This place is FANTASTIC! We arrived in off season at what I think is a ski lodge, but Karuizawa is a fantastic place to visit in summer. The building is so cute and the rooms are lovely, the setting is fantastic, and the owner, Suzuki (I hope I got your name right!) is lovely. She offered to take us up and down from the nearby station if we needed (although it's also possible to walk), and went to great pains to make our stay as comfortable as it could be. They even have a cute cat!

We had such a lovely time at Corner Shop. We stayed in the tatami mat room which was perfect for us, the rooms are so spacious, beautifully laid out and we had a view out onto the mountain. The toilet and shower room were also very clean and spacious. There is also a small kitchen with sink, kettle, fridge and crockery that we could use. The guest house is above a cafe/shop/bar with a really nice atmosphere and the staff were so friendly, kind and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, this was the best place we have stayed in Japan and we will definitely be recommending it to friends! Miyota is a great location in a stunning landscape. It is easily accessible by train from Tokyo and there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance of Corner Shop.

The owner was extremely helpful and even offered me a lift towards my next destination. It is slightly out of the way but perfect for visiting the local onsen. Extremely comfortable room.

Extremely accommodating and friendly owners who went out of thier way several times during our stay. Firstly, we didn't have a booking to visit the Christmas candle light up at the Karuizawa Kogen Church but they offered to give us a lift anyways to try and visit which we did and somehow managed to get in. Secondly, they insisted on fetching us after dinner which was really kind of them. Lastly, we had a two year old travelling with us and they allowed him to play with a bowling pin set in the dining area. Lastly breakfast was a huge spread and you could see the huge effort they put in the dishes and presentation.
