We only stayed for one night at the Hippomoon Lodge but were treated to quite an eventful time there. I was celebrating my 50th birthday and on meeting the colourful and effervescent Xavier, we were shown round our room which was nothing short of spacious, a large room with an equally large adjoining bathroom. I'm sure that Xavier would agree that the real star is lovely Patricia who was exceptionally kind and helpful. The hospitality here set the tone for our ZA experience, nothing was too much trouble. Xavier is a prolific raconteur so sit back with a drink and enjoy the anecdotes. The lodge is around 30 min drive from Hoedspruit Airport along an unmade road that will hopefully be completed soon. Around the lodge are a variety of animals that can be enjoyed at close quarters. Xavier took us out in his truck to explore the animals on the estate that included giraffe, zebra, ostrich and a variety of buck. In the evening, we were served with a lovely meal cooked to perfection, while appreciating the effort made to make my birthday really special. The electrical storm added a little sparkle to the evening. The lodge is a fun place to stay, roomy and very comfortable. You will be really well looked after and there is plenty to see just by relaxing within the outside space that includes a small pool and recliners. Thanks again to Patricia and Xavier for their warm hospitality and helpful advice that set us on our way on what was a memorable trip.

Christine and Koen are very hospitable & welcoming. Nothing was too much bother for them. We enjoyed a huge breakfast each morning and on the days we were going on safari they made a breakfast pack to take with us. They were able to recommend places to visit around Hoedspruit as well as great restaurants which they knew from personal experience not just internet reviews. The facilities were both beautiful and clean and It was delightful to see various wildlife wander through the garden. Watching the sunrise from the rooftop each morning whilst having breakfast was spectacular I would highly recommend this property without hesitation. It really feels like home away from home. Don't bother booking anywhere else as Switsongo ticks all the boxes.

Do yourself a favor. Even if it is just once. Stay at Umvangati House. It is breathtaking and beyond your wildest imagination. Breakfast was lovely - especially the pancakes. Eating upstairs outdoors on the patio with the birds and animals coming by to say hi was really special and peaceful. Coffee was great and things were plentiful and well made. The gardens were so carefully and beautifully designed and the little tiny pool was perfect for cooling off in the heat. Rooms were also so spacious and well appointed, and the bath was huge. The outdoor shower and beautifully designed bathroom was really what made it feel like such a treat.

Good location for various day-trips in the area. We ate at the restaurant both evenings and although the service was a bit slow (as seems normal in South Africa), the food was good. The breakfast was fantastic. They give you a generous credit towards whatever you want on the menu.
