Stephanie checked me in and I appreciate her help with booking an extra night with Old Manse. Samantha cooked a really good breakfast each morning. I really enjoyed the fresh fruit (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, kiwi & apple) & plain yogurt. She also cooked great poached eggs & cereal was appreciated. One morning I had salmon & eggs and it was yummy. I failed to mention she had nuts & dried fruit to put on the yogurt…..lots of good choices. My room & bathroom were a good size and the bed very comfortable. I enjoyed my walks from the B&B to the town centre (exploring) & taking the bus to Bakewell and Haddon Hall were fun for a day. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

The location is beautiful and very convenient for the Whitworth Institute. I loved my cozy room, the comfy bed, the lovely, clean bathroom with the fantastic shower, the thoughtful coffee and tea amenities, the witty proprietor, Alan and his courteous, talented and considerate staff, the tasteful decor and the wonderful welcome. I'm so pleased I chose the Square and Compass and I'm greatly looking forward to my next stay. Very highly recommended!

From the moment we walked through the door to the minute we left we had excellent service. The staff is both friendly and helpful. I have to give special mention to Diane. She made us feel like house guests, not like paying customers. She is a gem, and such a hard worker. Breakfast was quick and delicious, and covered anything we would like. Our room was lovely, and oh-so-comfy. Plenty of parking and a central location helped to make it perfect. We loved Castleton, and would return to the Bull's Head in a heartbeat. Can't wait!

Our stay couldn’t have been better! The host’s attention and care were exceptional! We ended up losing one night due to a car rental issue, and she was genuinely concerned about our extra night in London. She even baked welcome cupcakes and set up a lovely buffet with teas and other drinks. The room and bathroom were very spacious and comfortable. Everything was spotless, and the breakfast she prepared was the best meal of our entire trip! I 100% recommend staying here!
