Our host, Ms. Claudia, went above and beyond (she even asked what we would like for breakfast — something I had never experienced before). If you are travelling with family, consider bringing a small gift for her — her hospitality is so generous you’ll want to show your appreciation. Highly recommended.

Borgo Paradiso is located on a rather steep hill and allows a spectacular view over the roofs of Maccagno to Lago Maggiore. Our guest house was more than 100 years old, but nicely renovated. Our 2 rooms were on each side of a fully equipped kitchen with access to a balcony. The rooms had a good size, a wooden ceiling, and very comfortable beds. The bathroom had a good size and even a window! Our host Charlene spoke excellent English and was extremely nice and helpful. She offered us a gift of blueberry jam and honey and a coupon for free ice cream in the village. She also sent us advice for restaurants and which sights to see at Maccagno. Also the farmer who brought the breakfast (with fresh bread, cake, cheese and prosciutto) was very nice and made us feel welcome.

The location is incredible with one of the best views we have experienced in Italy. Breakfast was excellent served on the terrace with panoramic views. The villa is beautiful and nicely decorated and renovated with original furniture fitting the style of the building. The bathroom was huge and luxurious. Simply, an unique place. The owner Barbara was kind and helpful.

Posizionato a 25 km da Isole Borromee e 38 km da Busto Arsizio Nord, Affittacamere La Quiete mette a disposizione camere con aria condizionata e bagno a uso esclusivo, ad Arona. The apartment was lovely, well (and seemed newly) equipped and very clean, we liked the balcony. Tatiana, the host, and her husband were kind and helpful. Can't recommend this place enough.

A 18 km da Piazza Grande di Locarno, Rivalago B&B mette a disposizione alloggi con WiFi gratuito e parcheggio privato gratuito. The B&B, Rivalago is located on the waterfront and a moderate distance from the ferry embarcadero which I only used to arrive and depart. My room was spacious and comfortable with excellent cleaning service and a fabulous view of the lake. The B&B is in a quiet location and a short walk to the restaurants along the embarcadero. I chose Cannobio because it was considerded the prettiest town on the lake although not the most convenient for seeing gardens and palazzi. Those were easily reached by regular bus service, or boat. Gaia was very helpful in determining my connections and printing schedules for me. Commuting to the gardens was a breeze! The breakfast was fresh and varied, with more selection than I would ever have at home, which was a real treat! Both Matteo and Gaia were always available to answer questions and assist with whatever I needed. Matteo even found the program I wanted on Netflix and set it to English for me. Thank you both for making my stay so special.

Staff were wonderful before and during our stay. Good communication and very helpful. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice. Fresh and locally sourced where possible. A delightful, tranquil location interrupted only by chimes from the bells from the local church (stops at night!), birdsong and cuckoo calls. Gignese has bars, cafes and restaurants and is within walking distance. Stresa with its lakeside promenades, shops and many restaurants is 15-20 minute drive away.
