I booked a room here as I was traveling to Japan to play a Pokemon Go event in Nagasaki. I had a wonderful time in this house and the charming, little town it is in. It’s like staying in a beautiful, ancestral home of a Japanese family. I actually lowered my expectations for a bit because it’s not a hotel, but even then I was surprised by how well-kept, sparkly clean everything is. I shared the house with 3 other guests who are also in Japan to play Pokemon Go, and yet I didn’t see a single strand of hair left in the bathroom, a smidge of stain in the toilet, and I didn’t hear noise at night. It’s family-run and they do everything by themselves. I was coming in from Fukuoka Airport and it took me a while to figure out the trains and the transfers I would take to get to Kashima and arrived late at 8:30PM, it’s way past check in time but even then I had a warm welcome from the owner, Mr Maru. He showed me where the restaurants are, which places to visit, where the nearest 7-eleven is. He even let me in the staff-only area of the kitchen when he noticed that I brought dinner that I needed to reheat from 7-eleven. In the morning I met his older sister in the kitchen and she made me breakfast. She showed me where Yutoku Inari shrine is which I planned to visit on that day. I rented a bicycle at the Hizen-Hama station which is just like 150 meters from the house and biked around Kashima, ate Mikan ice cream, until I reached Yutoku Inari shrine. It is an amazing place. In the evening when I returned the bike at Hizen-Hama station, I went to its Sake bar which serves all the sake this little town produces and I was warmly welcomed even though I don’t speak a word of Nihongo. I tried all the types of sake that they have as I knew I can get smashed and still find my way home because the house is just a stone’s throw away from the station. Overall I had a pretty amazing experience and would gladly visit again.

We were very comfortable and enjoyed our discussions with the amazing host too. Location is walking distance to great restaurants and all points of interest in Arita.

The guesthouse was perfect in every way. It feels like sleeping at home with a Japanese family (which actually is true). The owner is really friendly. He helped me to find a parking space and explained everything to the littlest detail. When I arrived I got a free mandarin as they are in season now. The room itself was really comfortable and spacious. The beds were not too hard. The kitchen (with free tea and coffee), toilet and bathroom are shared with the other guests. However, since there are only 3 rooms, you almost never have to wait. The location is nice as it's close to the sea and about a 20 minute walk to the city centre and the castle.

Okawachiyama LODGE - Village of the Secret Kilns! bevindt zich in Imari, op 31 km van Huis Ten Bosch en 21 km van treinstation Takeo-Onsen, en biedt accommodatie met gratis WiFi, airconditioning, een... The hosts are very friendly and greeted me with helpful advice and information to ensure a great stay. The house is beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable throughout.

ILHA / ACCOMMODATION ligt in Arita, op 18 km van Huis Ten Bosch, en biedt accommodatie met gratis WiFi en gratis privéparkeren. Cosy clean accommodation above a cute cafe/pottery shop - conveniently near to the station. It was better in real life than the photos! Super spacious too. Takashi-san was so friendly and warm - even sending us off with little gifts the next day. (PS: all the bakes at the cafe are homemade) We enjoyed our stay so much we didn't want to leave!

Saga International Guesthouse Hagakure is gelegen in Saga, op 15 km van Historisch Park Yoshinogari en 49 km van Kanzeonji-tempel. In walking distance to the train station. Great to be able to store luggage after check-out. Appreciated the welcome tea and sweet.
