Unfortunately as I have big tattoos, I was not able to try the public bath house but we had a small private bath in our room and were happy with that. The sleep was great, no noise or bugs. The property has sea and mountain views, and is 33 km from Shuzen-ji Temple. The guest house features family rooms. Clean stay with the friendliest host. We enjoyed the onsen with wonderful mountain and sea views as well as an ice cream gift after bathing! The host allowed us to drop off our luggae early which freed us to stroll around the temple nearby and the rest of Atami, all of the host’s recommendations! My friends and I used the common area often as it was filled with natural light and windows across the entire span of the room. The sunrise and sunset were beautiful and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay!

Effective October 1, 2025, a lodging tax will be introduced by ordinance of Takayama City. In addition to the room charge, 100 yen per person per day will be charged. Please pay in cash or by card upon check-in. Guests under 12 years old are exempt from the lodging tax. Beautiful place. Lovely interior and very spacious. Location was great and staff were extremely kind and helpful. One of the best places to stay in Japan!

After reading the rave reviews, I booked this stay months in advance to make sure we would not miss the opportunity to meet Ken and Yuki and to stay at their guesthouse boasting modern facilities and balancing comfort and sleek design with traditional Japanese architecture and minimalistic and elegant interior design. At the end of a long day hiking, we were greeted with a big smile as if we'd come home to our family, a feeling that is both priceless and heatwarming. Ken's kind and welcoming nature is only rivalled by Yuki's and her sense of humor. Dinner was as delicious as our breakfast (all guests shamelessly went for seconds and some even thirds taking the lead for a brave lady I shall not name), enjoyed to the sound of Jazz standards in a communal spirit shared with the other guests, all of whom polite and considerate, as if handpicked by the hosts or perhaps instinctively mirroring their behavior. Guests do not have to wait to take a shower because there are three showers, one of which with an additional bathtub, for four rooms. Everything is impeccably clean and organized, making you feel restful instantly. So, do not hesitate to book this guesthouse as you make your way along the Old Nakasendo Road or just take a taxi to Magome and walk a few hundred meters to take photos for your Insta. Whether you fit the former or latter category, you will be treated as a family member by the kindest people we've met during our 3-week stay in Japan. I've already recommended this guesthouse to everyone I know who is planning to visiting Japan.

The house itself is beautiful Japanese classic house, however all facilities are modern and clean!!! Down town and Hayatama shrine are located in really walkable distance from the guest house.

At the guest house, all units have bed linen and towels. Very friendly and helpful host. Run me through all the equipment and helped with my luggage and time issue. I had the chance to meet several very friendly Japanese people here. They shared their food, snacks, and beers with me, so generous! We listened to music and we had a lot of laughs^^ After only spending 5 nights here, I already felt at home😊 If I ever travel to Japan again, I will definitely come back here!

Guests can make use of a garden. we only stayed for 1 night, but it was nice. The host was cool and talked english pretty well, our room was nice and clean, same goes for the bathroom. The house itself was cool looking. It was a nice stay :)
