Susanto and Damiamti organised a driver to pick us up from Negombo and also to take us to Polonnaruwa after our stay. They also organised a fantastic safari and even made my husband's birthday special with cake and balloons. Nadita, their son was an amazing host, adept at English language and a delight, as was their gorgeous dog Tiny. Stunning location. The tank, a short walk away, is teeming with all kinds of birdlife. Lovely village.

Accessible via private entrance, all units have air conditioning, soundproofing, desk and a private bathroom with a shower. There is a seating and a dining area in all units. At the guest house, the units are fitted with bed linen and towels. Great location. Nicely tucked away from the road amongst the forest. Lots of birds including jungle fowl to watch from the patio. Walk in from the road via a pathway. They met us to help carry our bags. Dinner was traditional Sri Lankan curry - vegetarian or chicken. Followed by yoghurt and fruit for dessert. Plenty of food, not spicy and was yummy. Other options for dinner were fried rice or vegetable noodles. Breakfast was packed for us for the following day safari. 2 egg sandwiches, a banana, yoghurt and water. Sufficient for the half day. The best part is the very close lake and dirt road. We went for a walk with binoculars and saw deer, langurs, crocodile, hornbills and lots of other birds and lizards too. A much better, slower paced experience and one not to miss. We booked a half day tour with the host. In hindsight we would have booked a different tour. Pillows weren't overly comfortable but was OK for 1 night.

The Backwaters property is located very near to Wilpattu National Park. It is a beautifully designed highly Eco friendly establishment. The owner to the other supports staff are all VERY friendly and they catered to our every need. The sunset River Safari arranged by the property was amazing. Our guide, Mubarak, had the most amazing eye to spot beautiful birds along the way. The food offered at the restaurant was healthy and tasty. We will definitely recommend this property to our friends and family.

At the guest house, all units are equipped with bed linen and towels. Wonderful stay. The staff couldn't be more helpful. Arranged safari for us which was excellent. Place was very clean. Restaurant is about 100m up the road.

I wanted to extend for two more days and it was no problem at all. The safari that I booked through them was amazing and the transfer that they organized was perfect. The tree house room we got was excellent with AC and hot water and a great view. The staff was very good and the food was excellent.

Attikulama Tank is 43 km away and Galgamuwa Railway Station is 48 km from the guest house. Great place to stay close to the entrance of the park. The host was amazing and cooked us a really delicious dinner! We walked in the afternoon to the lake side where we spotted some crocodiles!
