From the grilled spotted tailfish to the banana-curry, tasty salads and chilimarinated kingprawns to the freshly squeezed pineapple juice we had for breakfast along with our perfectly cooked masala-omellettes, ricenoodles and coconut vegetables plus lots of fresh fruit. The smiling and discrere staff made us feel at home from the moment we entered the boat and one of them told us some interesting facts about the backwaters. The scenery at Aleppey backwaters is out of this world and getting to take it all in onboard a small private houseboat driven by a very professional team was a once in a lifetime experience for me and my parents.

MAHARANI - Beautiful traditional style boat in a peaceful location with local life to view whilst cruising. The ‘Captain’ Manoj and his assistant Geethu together with our chef and Adie who waited on us all day were amazing. We got off the boat and purchased tiger prawns and calamari from the locals en route and our chef cooked these to perfection together with a total ‘banquet’ of delicious local dishes. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Pure decadence and excellent value. Lastly a huge thank you to Alush M (Front office manager) who organised us from instructions to finding the resort to offering us all the services the resort has to offer and ensuring our stay was perfect. Highly recommend this trip!

I spent a very relaxing two nights on the houseboat, spending the first day travelling south and spending the night next to the rice paddy islands, then the second day returning along the other coastline.
