An absolute miracle! A perfect escape. The house is really big with two large bedrooms and the loveliest living room. It has everything one might need, the kitchen is fully equipped. The cottage is beautifully decorated, and the food was fabulous. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony after the park visitors had all left for the day, drinking a glass of wine and listening to the sound of the waterfalls.

As we were on Madeira for a week of hiking we chose to spend two nights on the west of the Island . Prazeres is ideally situated for this as it is a short ride to the 25 Fontes, Levada Nova and Moinho hikes as well as to the Fanal Forest. Also to Port Moniz and the fantastic look out at the Ponta da Pargo lighthouse. The room is spacious and has an accompanying sun room facing west for great sunset views. Even has a telescope for star gazing. On arrival there was a bottle of wine cheese and crackers awaiting. Also on arrival we did a wash and dry of our clothes on site- no charge. As others have mentioned Sarah and John are amazing hosts- no request too big. Their recommendations for local restaurants were spot on for us- within 15 minutes - great food and eating with mainly locals. At breakfast we so enjoyed our chats about Madeira and other matters and were sorry we had to leave to get on the hiking trails early. Breakfast made on the spot and we were allowed to take what was left to take on our hikes for lunch. After a two day stay we left feeling like friends for life

The apartment was spacious and homey, equipped with everything we needed for a hiking vacation in Madeira. We loved that the kitchen was big for cooking meals at home, and the washing machine is an added bonus to quickly clean sports clothes. Our host welcomed us to the property as soon as we arrived, showed us everything we needed to know. Maria also provided us with fresh eggs, a plate of fruit waiting for us, a pastry and cookies, which were all absolutely delightful.

Isabelle was there to greet us on arrival even though we were over 1 hour late because the shuttle bus did not collect us to get our rental car. We were also able to check into the property earlier than 3pm when we had an early flight. Isable had baked us some welcome fairy cakes. Isabelle also baked us more cakes and gave us various fresh produce from their garden during our stay. They live in the property below and are generally around to help if needed. Isabelle understands a little English but it's easy to message her via the booking.com messaging service, where she can fully translate everyting and she responds very quickly. The Villa is immaculately clean & well decorated. The Kitchen is large, well equipped with a lovely sea view. The outdoor spaces are really clean and very spacious. The pool is to die for, we had lovely weather and the water was 29 degrees.....bliss! The Gardens are well maintained and very beautiful. It is peaceful. It was an absolute privilege to holiday here.
