Location was well out of the way with an amazing lake within a few minutes walk with trials to walk also bit perfect for Wilpattu national park. Food was really nice and the room had everything you could need.

The resort is located immediately outside the National Park, so the location is perfect. The room was comfortable and well equipped. The area is quiet and you can hear the birds and the jungle sounds (we even heard an elephant!) The resort is family run and the host, his wife and two sons were very friendly and helpful. The meals were good and (very) plentiful. We enjoyed a safari in the park with the host and there are walking paths on the lake outside the park where we saw lots of birds. Overall a great experience.

For us, it was the hosts that made it a perfect stay. So friendly, helpful and kind. Nothing was too much trouble and the food is amazing! We also booked a safari through them and that too was amazing. Don't hesitate and book this place.

Location was ideal. It's located on the edge of a wetland teeming with birds and has a raised platform for viewing or enjoying your meals. Hosts were extremely kind and attentive. I used the TukTuk service of the host on 2 days, his prices were more than fair, but more importantly, he quickly got a good read on what would interest me and made many impromptu stops pointing out things that interested me. I never felt rushed. Highly recommend, especially for bird watchers. This place lived up to its high rating score.

An absolute haven close to the sacred city sites of Anuradhapura. Peaceful, set back about 75m from the road. Beautifully appointed rooms and a welcoming dining/reception area - exactly as shown in the photos on this site. What the photos do not reveal is the exceptional service and kindness of the owner and all of his staff. Nor do they convey the outstanding quality of the meals served. It is rare to find a welcoming home away from home as good as Golden Ray Villa and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

V ubytování je dostupné Wi-Fi zdarma a na místě je k dispozici soukromé parkoviště. - bed is really comfy and accommodation super clean - hot shower !!! - warm welcome from the family - Sheeva helps to organise all the activities as the place is strategically based in the center of the cultural triangle of Sri Lanka : safari for elephants, sunset and sunrise at lion rocks and Pidurangala rock but also reply to a lot of requests that is really nice (example: he told me how to get to his place by local bus so I could avoid paying a lot in taxi as a solo young traveller it’s really nice) - quite area - interesting discussion with the owner to learn about Sri Lanka story - food available (but I would recommend to check price in advance just to know what you are going to pay) - host organised for me an Ayurvedic treatment that was so good - good quality for the services provided compared to the price paid

The owners, Leo and Wanda, couldn’t do enough to help our stay go smoothly. They helped shape are itinerary and suggestions additions that were fantastic, eg Sri Lankan dance show at the cultural centre, organising a fabulous yoga teacher, as well as great safari. Relaxed and happy vibe to the place with lovely pool area.

It’s very rustic and simple. AC is very functional. There were a few hiccups, but the outstanding staff addressed everything immediately. Everything I tried on the menu was delicious. There isn’t a lot to do in Habarana, but it’s a great location to stay if you want to visit the cave temple, Sigiriya, Miniriya and Polonnaruwa. The first three are less than 30 mins away. Polonnaruwa was a fast hour.

Of all the places we stayed in Sri Lanka, this is the one that stays with us. The knowledge, helpfulness and generosity of spirit of the family running the place made it exceptional. We felt very much at home and learned at lot about Sri Lankan society. The travel advice and conscientious vetting of tuktuk-drivers and guides recommended to us was valuable and another examle of the ambition of the host family to give the guests the best possible experience. The food was great. So was the location in a quiet neighbourhood within easy walking distance to the lake and the city. We also enjoyed lots of laughs and were impressed with the hostess teaching students in the yard some afternoons. Brilliant place!
