The villa is gorgeous, plenty of space for the 5 of us. The whoops of joy as our kids explored the place said it all! Private pool, incredible food, attentive staff, wildlife all around. On our first evening, the guides took us to the red sand beach, about a 20 minute walk away. Very beautiful. You walk past a lake with baby crocs, can spot iguanas and other wildlife. Magical. We booked a safari through the hotel, the jeep was comfortable, and very reasonably priced. They packed us a breakfast to take with. The service was outstanding. We didn't want to leave.

The entire family that run this place are about the nicest people you will ever meet. They did above and beyond to help me out, notably finding and then physically hailing mystery bus #10 direct to Elle which saved me 7 hours travel time. Facilities were clean, comfortable and relaxing even though, because I was too cheap to pay for air conditioning, a little hot in the early evenings. I suggest you choose more wisely. They have free bikes, which I was unable to take advantage of but others raved about and the on site food was very good. Bring guitar pics, music, and a few licks for their talented son.

It was a beautiful setting and the safari tents and recreational areas were really comfortable and blended in so well with the surroundings. The experience feels very special, authentic to the local area, and not flashy. The staff were incredibly friendly, kind and genuine. They went the extra mile at every turn. The plunge pool outside our tent was such a refreshing and welcome feature. We loved the breakfast and meals, and had such a memorable stay that our family won’t forget! Special mention to Bandara and his team for wonderful hospitality and food. Big thanks and kudos to our leopard spotting guide Dinesh (spelling?) and our super safe driver/guide. We had a wonderful trip to Yala National park and Tribe Yala made the whole experience even more memorable.

Tissamaharama Raja Maha Vihara is 2.9 km from the accommodation, while Ranminitenna Tele Cinema Village is 9 km from the property. Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport is 27 km away, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service. I can't say enough great things about this homestay! They arranged our transfer from Ella and arranged a morning and afternoon safari for us. We were greeted with a delicious cold coconut water, in the coconut. We chose the breakfast and dinner option which makes so much sense because the town is a bit of a walk and after a safari all day (4:30 am to 6:30 pm) it is great to have dinner at the homestay. Both dinners we had were excellent, I think the best food we've had in Sri Lanka! They also pack a breakfast to go on your safari day because of leaving so early. When you wake up they have coffee and bananas for you before leaving. Our room was a great size, ac and hot water worked well. The owners are very kind, friendly and even drove us to the bus stop, stayed with us and made sure we got on the right bus. I highly recommend Tissa Rainbow for your stay while exploring Yala National Park, you won't regret it!

Offering a garden and garden view, Lake Front Yala Safari is located in Kataragama, 18 km from Tissa Wewa and 18 km from Situlpawwa. My hosts couldn’t have made me feel any more welcome. They are kind and generous. As a single female traveller I felt very secure in their compound. I strongly advice you book your safari with your host. He’s a confident driver with a keen eye for leopards. Don’t think saving money will serve you well, take a private tour. The guest house is situated close to the park and near to the road the dissects the park. Take an evening safari on the road if you can. The accommodation is very clean. I found it hard to leave these lovely people.

At the villa complex, every unit is fitted with bed linen and towels. Amazing villa in the wild. The owner was super nice, and made sure we had everything we needed. The place is clean, the room is very big with an amazing outdoor/indoor shower. The service for the food was also super nice, always on time and the choice of food was very variegated. We also did the safari with them, which is 10/10 recommended. The price is the average but we were alone in the jeep, with a private guide and a driver. They made sure we were seeing every animal, explain to us everything while we were going around. Super recommended!

By far the best homestay we have stayed in for the past 2 weeks traveling in Sri Lanka. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable, AC rooms and the hospitality of Priya makes it the best! He helped us arrange the safari in Yala, took us bird and crocodile watching in the evening 😊 and picked us up and dropped us at the bus station. Can’t wait to be back, thanks Priya!
