Nothing else in the area was available due to public holiday, but luckily for us, a room was available here for one night. We were picked up at the train station and taken to the lodge. We came late, so dinner for the other guests were already planned, but they fixed dinner for us as well, including starter and a dessert. Sake tasting was also available. After dinner, we enjoyed a hot bath (separate for M/F). In the morning, we enjoyed a Japanese breakfast. Great food, wonderful staff. Thank you all for the warm welcome at your lodge.

This place is incredible. The taste, the care, the quality, all was amazing. Had I known before how good it was, I would have booked a longer stay. This is a reconstructed old japanese house. But it is done with such care, that you can feel it. It is quiet and beautiful. The kitchen has basic conditions, but there was enough to season a salad. I really felt there was care and thoughfulness all around.

The hotel is a very cosy, clean and charming place with lots of characters. The host, Mr Gorilla-San, and his wife made us feel very welcome. He is a great chef himself, and we enjoyed the tasty 5-course dinner very much. The breakfast served in the morning was equally good in presentation and taste. The hotel is well placed for hikers and skiers to explore the nearby mountains and ski resorts. Would love to stay there again in the near future.

Located in a quiet street, this hotel is offering very relaxed atmosphere. The tourist bus stop is just few steps from the hotel and you can get all around the city very easily. Best hotel in our entire trip. The resort is beautiful and comfortable. With unlimited booze during evening social and night cap. The breakfast buffet was also excellent. The location is right opposite the start of the Goshikinuma trail and the visitor center. So it’s very convenient for exploring the national park. We also drove to Jododaira about an hour to hike Mt Azuma Kofuji.
