The friendly staff were very patient with my clumsy Japanese. It was a special bonus to find an onsen style bathhouse on site. It was a really good one. The hotel is well situated near some large shops and lots of places to eat. My favourite was a barbecue at your table place. I had good beef plus a salad twice. Very tasty. It is near the Kanow, this restaurant. It was well located near the BRT station and the very helpful information office. Ofunato station. This location provided an excellent gateway to the beautiful Goishi Coast.  Without a car, there is a a local bus that takes only 30 minutes. But the last bus back to the hotel is at 2 pm. Take your walking shoes with you. All the trails are good, and there is also a coastal Trail to the famous Anotoshi iso rock formation. At Goishi beach you can have a seafood bowl while looking out the ocean.

Really friendly staff made you feel extremely welcome, as a solo traveller it was much appreciated to have a bit of conversation in the evening so fully recommended for solo travellers looking to meet people. Staff also have good recommendations for things to do and places to eat. As a side note I think kesennuma may be the friendliest place in Japan, multiple people struck up conversations from the brewery to the izakaya's, it's a lovely spot.

Great value for money if you want to stay in Kesennuma for a night. Location is ~30 minutes by foot from the train station or ~10 minutes by BRT (which runs to and from the station). Staff was very friendly and speaks english well enough. Facilities were clean.
