Even before I arrived the host messaged me and helped me get the bus from Anuradhapura, then arranged a tuktuk when I missed the stop. A tasty dinner was provided even though the restaurant was closed due to Poya Day. Advice about safaris, then safari was booked at short notice. A packed breakfast was provided for the early start. I was planning on taking a train onwards to Mannar, but he called and checked and found out it was cancelled, then helped me with bus arrangements, and flagging it down. This place was a great base for Wilpattu safaris, affordable, clean, and a friendly family. And a beautiful sunset!

Nicely tucked away from the road amongst the forest. Lots of birds including jungle fowl to watch from the patio. Walk in from the road via a pathway. They met us to help carry our bags. Dinner was traditional Sri Lankan curry - vegetarian or chicken. Followed by yoghurt and fruit for dessert. Plenty of food, not spicy and was yummy. Other options for dinner were fried rice or vegetable noodles. Breakfast was packed for us for the following day safari. 2 egg sandwiches, a banana, yoghurt and water. Sufficient for the half day. The best part is the very close lake and dirt road. We went for a walk with binoculars and saw deer, langurs, crocodile, hornbills and lots of other birds and lizards too. A much better, slower paced experience and one not to miss. We booked a half day tour with the host. In hindsight we would have booked a different tour. Pillows weren't overly comfortable but was OK for 1 night.

The host, Roshan, and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We even got a free upgrade for our room. The room was very clean, mosquito-free and very fancy! The location was very quiet, in the middle of nature and still quite close to the national park, where we had a great day organized by them as well. They arranged breakfast and lunch for us during this trip and we got to share a jeep last minute with another couple so it was a bit cheaper. The jeep driver was very capable, a very good driver with a sharp eye. We saw 4 leopards, 3 bears and all possible kinds of birds during our full day safari. The food was exceptional, we got an entire buffet for breakfast and dinner so you could choose what to eat, ranging from soup to Sri Lankan main dish and homemade desserts. They were very animal-friendly, with ducks, dogs and cats running around freely on the premises. In short: wonderful experience, do not hesitate to book!

We left for our safari early so sadly did not get to try breakfast, but were very satisfied by the room, and appreciated the warm reception/ extra care the staff gave to our family! While there was no common space (think motel style rooms that spit out onto a outside porch) we were only there one night and it suited our needs well. The safari company was able to pick us up from this location so all worked well.

Anta and his staff go out of their way to make the stay as nice as possible. Be sure to go on a full day safari with them, it really is a memorable experience. And the dinner they make is so delicious, highly recommended.

Backwaters was a lovely spot on the doorstep to the western gate of Wilpattu. They organised a game drive for us (where we saw lots), a river trip and boat ride to our next destination. The rooms and grounds are full of nice, environmentally friendly touches, and the meals are great. Since the centre of the park is a little ways from this gate, a full day game drive turned out to be better than a half day - and allowed usto see lots of elephants at the end of the day.

Wild Wadi Wilpattu - Villas with private Plunge Pools se nachází v destinaci Wilpattu a nabízí venkovní bazén, zahradu, soukromou pláž, terasu a výhled na bazén. We had a wonderful time. The accommodation was awesome and better then expected. The AC worked good and the pool was very nice to cool down. Around the accommodation there were a few monkeys to spot and observe. The best was the staff, especially Shantha. He's done everything to fulfill our wishes. The manager Manori is doing a good job too. Unfortunately, we had not the time to meet her in person.

They pride themselves in only cooking with fresh ingredients and no artificial additives. We were even invited into their kitchen to help with the preparation of the dinner! BONUS: Lots of wildlife just at your doorstep: we saw peacocks & other birds, various lizards, deers, water buffalos, etc...just by sitting on the terrace! Also easy access road & ample parking space at the lodge.

The resort itself is beautifully designed. Its architecture is stunning and perfectly suited to the natural surroundings, creating an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and genuinely connected to the wilderness. The rooms are very comfy; we especially appreciated the comfort of the bedding, guaranteeing a great night's sleep after a long day of game viewing. However, the true highlight of our visit was the exceptional friendliness of the staff, particularly Ravindu, the Assistant Manager. His attentive service and warm demeanor were outstanding. It’s clear he truly enjoys hosting his guests, always going the extra mile with a genuine smile to ensure every need is met.
