Our stay at Darwesh Nyumba Lodge was truly unforgettable! The hosts were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and fun to talk to—we had great conversations with them throughout our stay. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home. One of the highlights was the fresh, homemade dinner they prepared for us (optional but absolutely worth it). It was hands down the best meal we had during our trip—authentic local flavors, beautifully cooked, and far better than any restaurant we tried. You can really taste the love and tradition in their food! The accommodation itself was very stylish, clean, comfortable, and in a perfect location— 5 mins walking to the beach. The warm hospitality, the amazing food, and the great atmosphere make this place truly special. If you’re looking for an authentic and welcoming experience, this is the place to be!

Crazy man is such a generous person. Throughout our stay, we felt like his goal was not to make money out of us, but simply to make sure we had the best possible experience in Nungwi. For instance, he offers very cheap snorkeling tours, free laundry services, cheap drinks (cheapest we've had in Tanzania), etc. He also cooked for some of the guests. The breakfast was awesome! I know that many comments mention that the hostel is far from the beach, but we actually appreciated this. If you stay close to the beach, you only see tourist resorts. Walking 20 minutes to the beach every day allowed us to experience a more local side to Nungwi too. Overall, this was one of our best accommodations in Tanzania! Thank you Crazy man!

We spent five days at Shamba Lodge while searching for the ideal place to stay in Zanzibar, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. Located in a quiet, peaceful area with no noise, yet just a two-minute walk from the beach, it offered the perfect balance between tranquility and easy access to everything we needed. The location allowed us to reach incredible beaches and enjoy a variety of activities, while still feeling far removed from the crowds. The value for money was excellent. We could walk to stunning beaches on the eastern side of Zanzibar, and the lodge’s team helped us with everything from arranging taxis to making sure we felt comfortable during our stay. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and serviced daily. The breakfast was delicious, and the attention we received throughout was truly outstanding. Special thanks to Amaia and Ali (please, never let him go!) for making our stay so warm and memorable. We genuinely hope to see them again soon.

Inside and out all new Bangalow, built Dec 2022, grounds make shade for perfect breakfast outside, huge terrace for sitting. Host Rabia went above and beyond to make sure you got everything. Inside, you got fridge, fan, AC to cool down from sun heat. Located next to expensive hotels where you can sit and have drinks. Walk to the beach 5 min just across the road. 20 min walk to main street with local shops food etc. During low tide, go to near light house beach its best for chill in ocean, relax in shade of trees among big volcanic rocks. Not much people around as they stay inside hotels, very safe. You can buy fish and octopus from locals on the beach. Mango, watermelon is a must to eat all day so cheap and lots in February.

It looks better than the photos. It is a home away from home. You really feel you can just relax as you would in your own place and leave your belongings all over without a hint of worry. Joyce is something else, one rarely meets people like her in the world, such an inspiration, and her evening stories kept everyone entertained and enlightened (guests eat together at night and it was lovely meeting people from France, Holland, Japan and America and discussing life. Two families that were there, were returning guests which is probably the best advertisement one can have for a place. She went over board in accommodating food requests for everyone , and often changed the set menu to accommodate teenage dietary requirements. The house has a bohemian feel to it and we sat in different nooks and corners all the time just watching the world go by. We went from here on our snorkeling trip from here which was perfect as they all depart 20 mins from this guesthouse (others had travelled for a LOT longer to get there). Joyce's dogs are very much part of the establishment which we loved, being an animal family.

What a lovely place this is! First of all, I wasn't expecting to have a view because I didn't book a sea view room, but I was amazed when I opened the back door! Of course it's not an obstacle-free sea view, but it's still a sea view, and it's worth it! Staff is always friendly and nice, Emmanuel even took me and other guests to a party in Nungwi, which was a nice treat. The room is spacious and comfortable. Loved that they had the ceiling fan, a standing fan, and a little fan in the bed, because the heat in Zanzibar has to be taken seriously!! Bed is comfortable, and the housekeeper make a beautiful arrangement of the sheets - it just looks lovely every time! Loved the "lounge" area inside the room, I used to lay in there for a long time, because even though is made of concrete, it's a very nice corner to spend some time reading. They provide a cute little kettle, tea, coffee, water, and they also have a mini fridge - so, the room is very well equipped on that regard. The shower and sink are inside the room, but the bathroom corner was very well designed and it looks lovely. And I absolutely loved the shower gel and body lotion, the scent is like from heaven!! Outdoors they have a beautiful garden throughout the place, and the pool and restaurant are is just....Wow! You have a view of Mnemba Island, and it's just indescribable! The views are just amazing! Loved that everyday they send you on whatsapp the daily menu, the weather and the tides hours. Although the beach isn't accessible from this hotel, they have another hotel from the same group nearby, to which they provide a shuttle bus and you can access the beach during the day.
