Each unit comes with a terrace, a seating area, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with shower and free toiletries. A balcony with mountain views is offered in all units. We loved that it was on a farm. It was a beautiful location about 40mins outside La Fortuna proper. You need a vehicle to get around. On the property there are horses, peacocks, miniature horses and even a beautiful water buffalo! The room was comfortable and the service was so hospitable and warm! DEFINITELY worth staying there!

Fortuna Airport is 27 km from the property, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service. This was probably my favorite part of Costa Rica Trip! It was so surreal to spend some time disconnected and surrounded by such beautiful nature. Loved all the trails, but sandaderos in bosque la tigra was my favorite. It’s a primary and secondary rainforest property they have nearby and you can visit it for a small fee. I saw there more wildlife by myself than in any other forests walking with a guide. I did a night tour and we walked around the property, not even rainforest further out, and saw 3 snakes within the first 5minutes, so many frogs and other insects, and the guide was very knowledgable. I also planted a tree there and it was a really beautiful experience of giving back to the nature and community. Overall service is 10/10, always with a smile, always asking a question or two. No connection at all anywhere except the reception, but wifi there is stronger than in most coworkings I have visited here in Costa Rica. The only thing that was challenging for me personally and I have not seen it mentioned in the comments is if you sometimes get car sick, a road to the property will make you car sick, so please have some medicine handy. But it’s the entire area around that is like this, so just accepting it as part of adventure. I recommend staying for 2-3 nights and spending it in the lodge area enjoying the nature, the best disconnection and reconnection with the self “retreat” 🤭

Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails also features an on-site bird sanctuary that has around 500 different species of birds; other recommended activities include tours of Arenal Volcano's lava flows, exploring the several nearby waterfalls, or climbing the 28 m. (92 ft.) wildlife observation tower, The Nest. Arenal Lake is an excellent site to practice sports fishing. There are also 11 km of walking trails throughout the property, or guests can just relax in the hot tub or have a massage in the spa. Our most favorite place to stay in Costa Rica! The staff and the facilities are outstanding.

Very helpful with recommendations and knowledgeable about the surrounding area as well as other areas in Costa Rica.

There is a fully equipped private bathroom with bidet and free toiletries. Nohelia (host/owner) is very friendly and helpful. Wonderful (typical local) breakfast and diner. Beautiful garden, full of animals and with a nice viewpoint. Guided night walk is certainly something you should do. A bit remote (from the tourist hotspots), but definitely worth the detour!
