La Vieille Cheminée is situated on a 200-acre farm in Charamel and is surrounded by two rivers, indigenous trees and forest. It features an outdoor swimming pool, terrace and garden. We had a wonderful winter surrounded by the natural beauty of Mauritius. The fresh air and the unique atmosphere of the eco-village, along with the cozy lodges, made our stay exceptional. Every evening, we enjoyed barbecues by the fireplace. The hiking and horseback riding experiences for our daughter were also delightful. Both breakfast and dinner provided by the hotel were perfect, thanks to the fresh, high-quality ingredients used.

Every fixture and fittings were top notch. The exceptional view of the Grand Piton, the highest peak in Mauritius, just across the valley is majestic. The place is very calm, quiet and peaceful. The car park is inside the compound, right next to the lodge. The wifi was fast. The ac in the bedroom was quiet and effective. The bathroom fittings too were high quality. The bed is huge, well made and very comfortable. The breakfast spread was available in the lodge, right from the moment we arrived and was very generous. The terrace sitout was amazing to enjoy the stunning views around. The outdoor fire place with a cozy corner was very relaxing.

Imagine waking up early in the morning, grabbing a coffee, be greeted by two lovely dogs coming to say hi, the sound of birds and the distant noise of the waves. You walk for 3 minutes and you arrive on a beautiful beach, most of the time almost empty,. You can use the kayak, the surf board, bodyboard available at the house, whenever you want to go and see the dolphins even if they often come to the shore. Sanjana and Julien are adorable, so are their 2 kids. We got some fresh eggs coming from their adventurous chicken, they were very kind and helpful throughout our stay. There is a barbecue that we used by the beach…We had an incredible stay and we cannot wait to come again ! Tamarin bay is so much better than Flic en Flac and you have great food options nearby when you spend your day at the beach. The house is located in a secured and quiet place, it’s a fantastic option to discover Mauritius by offering a peaceful space to rest.

From the first moment we arrived at the chalet, it felt like a home in paradise. We particularly enjoyed the mornings, drinking a coffee on the terrace from which you can see the beach and the sea. 🌊Different birds come to say Hi and add to the truly peaceful athmosphere. The chalet was very clean, had everything one needs, and was very cozy. The nights were very quiet, ensuring one gets a good night‘s sleep. The beach is not crowded, it‘s fun to observe the surfers and the sunsets were magical. Additionally, one can use the chalet‘s own kajak to paddle out in the mornings to see the dolphins that live around the area - they are not there every morning (sometimes at other beaches) but there are good chances to see them and observing boat/kajak traffic can help to spot them. The rental car was also great, very useful to drive around to different activities and restaurants in the evening (as at Tamarin Beach, there are not that many restaurants to choose from). In general, the area is fantastic to stay in because you can reach different interesting destinations within short ride times. Anil was super friendly, easy to reach via Whatsapp, had a very short response time and helped with all our questions.

The apartment is great, with terrace and everything you need. Different lights incide the house make it cosy. Host was very kind, reply quickly, always interested in my comfortable staying. Kitchen is full equipped, bed is soft, there are always internet and hot water. Thank you so much, it was pleasure to spend my time here!
