We went to the volcanoe, to the Yakel tribe, to a local english school, to the village nearby, to the local market and even cooked Simboro and Laplap with them. John also accompanied us on every trip and gave us additional informations and he even speaks the language clik, so he could also communicate with the people of the Yakel tribe. Every evening, after dinner, John made a fire at the nearby fireplace to enjoy the rest of the evening. When you want to see the real Tanna you definitely have to go to this place.

Robort and his family were incredibly friendly and helpful. They assisted me in arranging all my trips, including how to get to the treehouse, transportation to the airport, booking flight tickets, visiting the volcano, and even took me to the celebration. When I didn’t have enough cash to buy a ticket, Robort kindly helped me cover 600 Vatu—I’m truly grateful for that. His daughters were also adorable and guided me through the local tribal culture. They were all very patient. The condition of the treehouse was better than I expected. While it’s inevitable to see some small bugs, I didn’t encounter any rats. The treehouse is located right opposite the entrance to the volcano, just a two-minute walk to the ticket office—very convenient.
