FAQs about hotels in Salzburg

The Hills are Alive in Salzburg

Made famous for its “hills alive with the sound of music”, Salzburg is a very pretty town filled with romantic buildings and squares. If you are not yet aware that Mozart was born here, then you will be as soon as you land at Salzburg W.A. Mozart

International Airport. Further your education about this musical prodigy at his actual birthplace, Mozarts Geburtshaus. The city is the namesake of the Salzach River which runs through it, and alongside this beautiful river lays the Schloss Mirabell, one of the many impressive castles within the city limits. Schloss Mirabell and Hellbrunn with their picturesque gardens, beautiful galleries and impressive halls make the ideal spot for a picnic during summer.

The white-stone Hohensalzburg fortress is perched upon a green hill and offers magnificent views over the city. Or, you can escape it all in the Kapuzinerberg forest, which offers splendid Alpine vistas- a reminder of Salzburg’s natural beauty.

The shopping centre focuses around Alter Markt Square and Getreidegasse, the latter is a quirky street with old-fashioned signs indicating what each store sells. With 125 hotels and guesthouses available on Booking.com, your stay in Salzburg is bound to be as pleasant as this city is pretty.

Salzburg is an extremely beautiful city.

Salzburg is an extremely beautiful city. It has a beautiful old center under the protection of UNESCO, starting with the Mirabel castle and park, the birthplace of Mozart, the old town center which is riddled with narrow streets, a castle on a hill, a beautiful promenade by the river. The air is so clean that we breathed and used every moment to absorb the beauty of the city. We also visited Holburne Palace, which is outside the city. In many places in the city, stands are set up and decorated for Christmas and New Year. We also visited the famous beer hall within the monastery and drank phenomenal beer. The locals are very friendly and ready to help. We are enchanted by Salzburg and recommend everyone to visit it.

The people are so freindly and helpful.

The people are so freindly and helpful. Tour the fortress and cemetary, eat in the square - great austrian and other food. Take in a Mozart string quartet concert at the fortress. The views day and night are incredible. Do the salt mine tour.

Beautiful city with both historical and scenic beauty.

Beautiful city with both historical and scenic beauty. At times, it felt like we were in a quaint fairytale. The pebbled streets and antiquated architecture made me feel like sitting down and admiring the beauty much at the chagrin of my spouse. I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of a cosmopolitan city to definitely take a trip to Salzburg. I am looking forward to one day seeing the city during the winter and see how snow unravels another layer of beauty

Salzburg Old Town and castle are fabulous.

Salzburg Old Town and castle are fabulous. The weather was poor during my visit, low cloud and rain, so I didn't get to appreciate the scenic value of the city. Nightlife is low key but pleasant. I would certainly return.

Get the 'Salzburg card' (available from your hotel) which gives you free public transport as well as access to a variety of museums/cable car etc etc... These are available for 24, 48 and 72 hrs. We had 72 hrs and cost us 48euro. Easily pays for itself. A must is the Sound of Music tour and Eagles Nest (if that interests you) and are available through GetYourGuide. Mozart museum also and his birthplace is also a must do.

Beautiful heritage city enclosed by intact medieval walls...

Beautiful heritage city enclosed by intact medieval walls and overlooked by ancient fortress. The culture, architecture and history are proudly protected and conserved. The food and people are wonderful. So much to see and do in Salzburg and the surrounding region. The fortress, Untersberg cable car, Mozart birthplace and residence, churches are must sees. Easy to use public transport. Berchdesgarten and Obersaltzburg are a short bus trip away. Salzburg Card is well worth buying for transport and attractions. Visitor information centre in the old town is very good.

We booked a suite with balcony which was very impressive. It had absolutely everything we could want and more! The hotel is a short walk (15 mins) away from Salzburg old town and is in a pretty and quiet location. Breakfast was great especially sitting outside with the lovely views. The young man serving us was very attentive and friendly… as was Kira the dog! Parking was easy.

A very friendly, family-run hotel in a traditional old building. Safe and comfortable, excellent value for money and very close to the main railway station and a short walk from the Old Town. A very good choice for a short stay in Salzburg.
