I'd been to Castro several times, but this was my first during high season, and I'd advise travelers that unless you like sitting in backed-up traffic ('taco') for long stretches, just avoid Castro from mid-January to late February, when trying to drive from anywhere north of Castro to anywhere south of Castro can take hours. November-December are great, however, and I'm told March is the best month of all. By and large, Chiloé's charms are not to be found in the cities.Guest review byDan

Basically the sun jumped into bed with me first thing in the morning. It was lovely to observe water birds in the estuary. The owner communicated with me in spite of not having English, checked me in early and recommended a good tour agency.
