Well, we expected this hotel to be good ! It wasn't good... it was really really great. From the moment we arrived, we felt I to was going to be special and we were right.  Our host, Christina, brought us to our room (a Deluxe Queen Suite) and we loved it straight away. It had everything and more than we expected. It overlooked the Haidplaz so we had a prime view on all the activity going on below... but the windows were so good, we could shut out the noise if and when we wanted.  The large bed was superbly comfortable. The room was also large so we had lots of space. The bathroom was a perfect size and everything was spotlessly clean. The cooking area was well equipped and very functional.  Breakfast was wonderful... A great choice of food, in lovely surroundings... a super way to start the day. Christina was so welcoming & lovely and she gave us great background to the hotel's history, the oldest part of which dates back to 1230, and its links to famous people through the ages. The other staff that we met were very pleasant & smiley and so helpful.  The location of the hotel is perfect and all the sights are within easy walking distance... as is the train station. There is also two free bus routes (A & B) that pass by the hotel to take you around the city, if you want them.  The tourist office has a free app that gives you a marvelous walking tour of the city. Regensburg is a special gem - very beautiful - not too big and not too small. Our top picks are the Bavarian Historical Museum, closely followed by the Thurn und Taxis Palace.. both are simply brilliant but in very different ways. There are tons of bars and restaurants within easy reach of the hotel. We would highly recommend a stay in Hotel Goldnes Kreus.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Superb breakfast. Very clean, spacious rooms. Very, very quiet. Close near Regensburg and Walhalla. Groceries (if you want or need some ) around the corner. Some good restaurants in walking distance (10-15 minutes max). Free parking.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at the Altstadthotel Arch. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and always eager to help. My room was not only spotless and beautifully cozy but also perfectly sized for a comfortable stay. This was my second time staying here, and both visits have been nothing short of amazing. Despite the recent reviews the staff was very nice, the room was tidy, clean, and warm. The downtown area is close ( 20 minutes walking distance with 2 children). So I absolutely recommend this place if you want to spend some time in Regensburg!
