The breakfast was large and varied for differing tastes giving fabulous value for money. The hotel was spotlessly clean and well looked after with lovely decoration and extremely comfortable. The standout undoubtedly were the proprietor and her staff who worked extremely hard and long hours to make sure that every customer was well catered for and happy. The evening restaurant had an extensive menu and the food excellent and good value even though this would be difficult to execute for such a small team. It would be a real shame should anything need to change at this small, lovely, well run hotel.

100% would recommend. The view was incredible! Perfect peaceful getaway, very nearnational park for hiking. Breakfast is good value for money as is the main dinner. Chefs and waiters and staff are very friendly and helpful. Food and wine were delicious. If you want to escape the coastal tourist traps, this is the place! (If you have a car)

Hotel spa villaiba is a wonderful spa hotel and a great place to stop by for some time to relax. It is a clean place with great staff and provides quiet and unique view thanks to its location among the trees in the forest. The facilities are good and the hotel gives small sales to extra charged activities such as treatments and extra meals.

I had an excellent, unfortunately short, stay at Somberito. It's a family business and everyone was very kind and helpful. The rooms are simple, but absolutely spotless, and smartly thought out, so you have everything the traveler's heart could want (reading lamps, bedside table with plugs to charge your phone, roomy closet, fridge, perfect water pressure and temperature, (and if I remember correctly a window in the bathroom), comfortable bed, dark and light curtains,...). The breakfast is a fantastic option. The tortilla was delicious, but there was also fruit, cereal, different breads, hams and cheese, and more. Definitely worth the money. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed the two days I was staying (Wednesdays and Thursdays), so I didn't have the pleasure to taste their food. I had another booking I couldn't cancel or I'd definitely have stayed a day or two more. If I return to Tenerife, I'll definitely come back to Somberito again. Gracias por todo!

One of the few places on the island that didn't want to make a big deal about someone arriving late in the day. Knowing I could get in at any point made the flight, car hire and driving so much less stressful. After that, it was great to find it was also above the cloud line and a great place to start hiking from. The instructions were clear and the host attentive. I've stayed in traditional Canary style properties before but this one was well set-up and I had a good night's sleep. I also like the period furnishings; good quality and part of the culture instead of mindless consumerism. Upgrades have been made where convenient such as my room having 4 sockets in it and 1 right next to the bed.

Despite that check-in time specified till 17:00 you can easily request late check-in, the host is very friendly. Roms are not very sound proof, so if someone decides to loudly chat in the hall/kitchen at midnight it could be annoying. The swimming pool exists ) but the water is very cold. Breakfast was good.

    Cosy village, with some good restaurants. Ideally positioned to go to the Teide National Park. Please keep in mind it is at 1400 m, in the forestal corona, so there is often fog, might rain a bit, and fresh temperatures, so get good clothes. When you go down to the coast, or up to the Teide, the sun reappears, typical phenomenon of the Canaries, it is part of the experience !

    Vilaflor is half way up to the caldera Las Cañadas from the tourist hell resorts at the S coast. Can be a bit fresh/chilly in the evenings depending on the season. Several restaurants, bars, bakeries and small supermarkets = everything that you need.

    Amazing little town, perfect for a getaway from all the busy seaside resorts. Has a pleasant atmosphere, nice restaurants and cafés and an ideal location for hikes in the area. I was thru-hiking the GR131.

    I’m not sure if there’s anything else to do in Vilaflor than...

    I’m not sure if there’s anything else to do in Vilaflor than the hiking trails, mountains and forest. Especially at weekends, everything is closed - shops (only local), restaurants, no people outside, the main square is surprisingly steep and in the middle is overgrown greenery like garden which makes impossible to take a photo of the centre of the village. Two churches may be open at times. Good parking lot by the churches, but the village is long, winding, steep, spreading sideways, hard to say where it begins and ends. And in January it’s really from chilly to freezing, unlike the coast.

    The location was lovely - half way up El Teide with adjacent pine forests for walking and easy access to the National Park. The village has several good restaurants although they tend to close early. The accommodation is very basic and most rooms have poor facilities - best for a one or perhaps two night stay. For birders: easy to see canary, blue chaffinch and Berthelot's pipit

    Wonderful little village so high up in the mountains, lots of sunshine and clean air, beautiful hiking trails around and great to see the canary pine forest, lovely bakery and little restaurants , perfect as a base to explore the national park or just to relax and reconnect with nature

    Nice hotel which is very central in Vilaflor and so very close to enable us to sunrise hike Mount Teide. Pool area is nice (but the pool itself was too cold to swim in) and they have a nice communal lounge area with an honesty bar etc which really creates a nice and relaxed feel. Shared bathrooms were clean and we never had to wait etc!

    Spacious beautiful rooms, great comfortable bed, very clean and beautiful view. The people who Work at Hotel Alta Montaña Were superfriendly and service minded - we appreciated They offering us a locked garage for our bikes with no Extra charge. The breakfast was delicious and we would definately come back.

    Nice central hotel in Vilaflor, rooms availale for a very fair price. As other people mentioned, when you arrive after dark there is nobody around initially, but the owner is always to be found and the reservations system works well
