Turku is a very nice place with some good places to visit. Turku Castle, Luostarinmaki, (a Victorian village), Kakola (old prison turned into a luxury hotel with brewery, bakery and spa), Sibelius museum. Navel museum. We visited at midsummer and even though many tourist attractions were closed for this public holiday, there were many sights to see. The turku living museum, the parks, the river. Absolutely beautiful, everywhere, historically rich and spotlessly clean with magnificent floral displays in gardens, parks and around all historical and functional buildings. I came to the city to spend time with my child. The city was nice for walking, interesting museums, great experience going to Ruissalo area. If you plan a visit just to explore Turku, I would recommend summer time - way more options for boat trips and fun-life at the waterfront. Turku is a lovely city in finland. I got to spend a few days here off and on and it was lovely to discover the museums, local restaurants (some really incredible), bars, shops and even took flights, cruises and busses from and to here while solo traveling through Finland for three weeks. Turku was a springboard for visiting Finland's wooden villages, with our son who goes to school in Helsinki. He wanted to have more time in Turku. What we saw of Turku was charming and easy. Breakfast is quite standard for nordic hotels, you get variety of options, so it is a big plus. Reception staff is friendly and helpful. Location is central, everything is in walkable distance. Such an iconic Turku building in a nice, new-ish neighborhood. Lit up steps very close to the hotel lead to the top of the hill where you can find a great brewery, a fantastic restaurant, a bakery and the famous funicular. We had a beautiful view (stayed on the 4th floor) and the room was tastefully restored with beautiful period features (tall ceilings, massive windows etc.) Free parking was a wonderful bonus.
