La Chartre is a very interesting old town - lovely for a wander around after dinner. We ate at the Hotel Du France two nights, B Brasserie two nights (food was exceptional) and La Luna - good vegetarian choices. We struggled to find restaurants for dinner on Monday and Tuesday (most are closed in France on those days) but with a bit of investigation we did find somewhere. There is a lovely campsite by the River Loire, and a large boating lake. The Tower of Joan of Arc above the town is a lovely feature and illuminated at night. We had motorcycled the length of France to the west Pyrenees to the Med side of the Pyrenees, so had seen and stayed at some amazing locations. La Chartre-sur-le-Loir was only intended to be a stopover before the ferry from Caen back to the UK. As such, the town could not compare scenically with any of our other locations.
