We were travelling up from the south west and needed a place to stop over for one night. We also wanted secure parking as we had electric bicycles on the back of the car and Hotel de La Croix d'Or was perfect. The food in the resturant that night was superb and a delicious breakfast with plenty of choice the next morning. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the room was spotless. We were sorry to have only spent the one night in Avranches and would like to have had the time to explore it a bit more

Dinner was superb on both nights, served in a comfortable dining room. The menus provided good choices, and all food was carefully cooked and beautifully presented. Madame, who was front of house was an excellent host. I believe her husband was the chef. All staff were very pleasant and well trained in all aspects of the hotel. Breakfast was good, there is a cooked option if desired. A joy to stay there.

Lovely quiet hotel in beautiful countryside, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Very welcoming staff who made us feel at home. The hotel is a wonderful place to relax in with a garden at the back overlooking the river. . The evening dinner and breakfast were excellent. Can highly recommend.

My trip to Avranches was somewhat last minute and with complicated transit. I had never been to the town before so I wasn't aware that the route from the train station to the town is a bit difficult by foot. I was stranded at the train station in the pouring rain and harsh winds, hours until the next bus, worried about being able to drop my bags at the hotel since it was 5 hours until check in. Unprompted, the proprietor of Hôtel Patton came to my rescue, picking me up from the station and letting me check in early. Truly an angel! The hospitality was perhaps the best I have ever received. She accommodated all of my (somewhat fussy) needs and really helped me out during a difficult 24 hours of travel. The hotel itself is well-located, just on the edge of the center of town. It was clean, proper, and comfortable, with a charming wall mural of the Mont St Michel in my room. There was a microwave in the lobby for reheating some food. The bathroom was clean and suitable. It's definitely a basic hotel, but a good value, comfortable, clean, everything you could want. I enjoyed the breakfast, good coffee, with local products and a great croissant and baguette. I really can't say anything but good things about the Hôtel Patton, and especially the service I received (from I believe her name was Laurence). Truly the most kind and accommodating hotel staff. She gave me a few good tips for exploring town as well.
