I stayed here with my partner for 4 nights in September as part of an anniversary trip. Start to finish everything here was flawless! It's the best of both worlds -- the attention and services of a hotel with the comfort and relaxed setting of an apartment rental. Service: We were greeted immediately in the parking lot and given a tour of the room and facilities. Before your stay you get access to their guest portal where you can instant message staff, book things like massage, meals, etc.l The guest portal has guides to your room and recommendations for the area, all at your fingertips. They have guides in English for literally everything, e.g. how to work the towel heater or dish washer in your room. Such attention to detail! They also had a hand written note in our room welcoming us. Check-in and check-out and payments were a breeze, there is no key -- your door is locked by a key pad. Everyone we encountered at the spa and wine bar were so nice. Shout outs to the woman (sorry I didn't catch her name) who gave us a free taste of walnut liquor at the bar to try. Room: We were in room 201 which was perfect for us because it is private and away from the other rooms. It was very quiet and conveniently located next to one of the pools. There is a small outdoor seating area which we enjoyed. Everything is immaculately clean and modern with comforts of home. The design of the kitchen and decor in general is really beautiful and minimalist chic. TV had many international channels to enjoy, plus there is chrome cast. The kitchenette was perfect for us because there are no restaurants walking distance and 2 of the nights we were tired from sightseeing and didn't feel like going out for dinner. So instead we could buy groceries (there is a Carrefour 8 mins drive away and every day of the week one of the nearby towns has a market) and eat in our room.

Superb hotel, located in a XVth century building, conveniently located at the entrance of the old city, it provides excellent service. A great base for discovering Sarlat. The breakfast is excellent and the staff very helpful.

Excellent choice of hotel! The staff was extremely kind and helpful. Location is perfect: less than a 10-minute walk to the old town, and easily accessible from out of town. The rooms were very roomy and clean. Breakfast was plenty and tasty! We definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there again if we come back to Sarlat.

This hotel has the best location to visit Sarlat on foot without the hassle of finding a parking spot. There's an indoor private parking on a walking distance. The pool, spa and surroundings are great. The room is very nice. The bathrooms are new and very functional.The staff is friendly. The breakfast is outstanding. We enjoyed staying at the Madeleine and visiting the Perigord and Lascaux.

    Fabulous and unspoiled medieval city. The city is divided by a straight road with many shops. It is good to explore both sides. One has all the main buildings the other side has a maze of charming streets. at night the town is gaslit - very atmospheric! The market is exceptional.

    What a fantastic town to visit!

    What a fantastic town to visit! Don't miss canoeing on the Dordogne but pick a company that lets you park your boat at Beynac, not 20 minutes past that town, if you plan to visit it. Don't miss Lascaux caves. Plan to spend 1-2 hours at the castles of Beynac and Castlenaud. The are both very well presented. The TI can give you a good list of taxis to take you to these towns and to Vitrac for canoes, and many of them speak English. Sarlat itself is gorgeous and fun to visit. Try to be there on a market day, an unforgettable experience.

    We loved the town of Sarlat.

    We loved the town of Sarlat. An old genuine medieval town, well kept. The markets were amazing, eateries, so much to see and do in and around Sarlat. Do NOT miss canoeing down the Dordogne either.

    One has to experience the beauty and wonder of the Dordogne region to understand why I will return for a longer visit. Words can’t convey the experience of the nexus of prehistory, medieval history, French Resistance history and stunning scenic beauty.

    A beautiful French town that is worth spending a few days.

    A beautiful French town that is worth spending a few days. Lots of great restaurants and local shopping. The French people are very warm, friendly and always willing to help. Most of the towns to visit surrounding Sarlat were 15 to 30 minutes away. Saturday market days are wonderful, filled with vendors, farmers, and shop owners on every street. The town is a perfect central location to the Dordogne Valley region.

    2 nights is plenty. Architecture is not to be missed.

    2 nights is plenty. Architecture is not to be missed. Crowds on market day are crazy unless you go to first thing in morning. The €5 panoramic glass lift is worth it. If you’re vegetarian or like plenty of salad/ vegetables you will struggle with all the restaurant menus foie gras and duck feature heavily.

    Very beautiful, old and atmospheric hotel in a historic building on the central square of Sarlat-la-Canéda. We stayed in a triple room. Our room conveyed the unique atmosphere of the old city, in the same time it was very cozy and equipped with everything you need. Ideal location to feel the spirit of the medieval city, as well as to get to other interesting places in Perigord.

    It's an amazing place with a comfortable room, a fantastic bathroom, friendly staff and a beautiful view. There is no other place I would think of staying in lovely Sarlat-la-Canéda. I definitely enjoyed my stay and am very grateful for the kindness and professionalism. I was thinking of coming back for another trip and will definitely stay there to get to know the area better.

    We thoroughly enjoyed 3 nights at this hotel. Our stay was enhanced by the owner's local knowledge and recommendations. We were comfortable and the hotel is spotless. Good breakfast and great coffee! It was very useful to have a dedicated car park too. We walked into Sarlat every evening for drinks and dinner.
