The place exceeded our expectations, especially due to the owners. The couple "naturel et lumière" (that is actually how they call themselves 😊) is running this authentic and extremely cosy mountain refuge in a very positive and welcoming spirit. At our arrival, we were instantly warmly received in this remote, high altitude “gite” in beautiful snow topped surroundings, which made us feel happy and at home immediately. The owners knowledge of the area and its history is astounding and a source of inspiration and laughter! The room we had (“Ecrins”) was beautiful, clean, had mountain views and even a bathtub. Breakfast and food is served by the fire in the cosy common room and the bar is a great place to chat with the owners or other guests. Highly recommendable !

Amazing accomodation with incredible views over La Meije. Modern facilities with balconies, morning and afternoon sun. LIving area and bedrooms were incredible and very warm. Remi was 100% responsive with any queries before and during the stay.

The place is great! Better than in the photos, it’s spacious and as it says on the description, it’s simple, but good value, tasteful, clean and perfect for a short stay. We had a lovely night and will definitely return.

Incredible nice staff, dogs and owner! We were the first guest of the season and had the hotel for ourselves. Not even the cook started so she made us the best dinner and breakfast. The location is superb for hiking. Lots of trails and super to hike during summer. You can start at the hotel and walk for hours. Beautiful view from the room. Parking at the towns square. Easy access to the hotel.

    the hotel was on our route into Italy through a beautiful valley. It is obviously a place to stay in the winter when you come to ski but we were there in August. Plenty of walkers around and the views were stunning.

    The people we met in the hotel and sports hire shop were friendly and helpful. The village itself is a very traditional looking French village, but like many of them has very few facilities. In the winter it gets no direct sunshine from mid-afternoon. The Nordic ski runs up the valley to Arsine are lovely and well looked after. The ski area at Arsine is quite lively and convivial, with people gathering there to rest and chat and go for a drink or meal after their skiing.

    The apartments is placed in an astonishing surrounding. Mountains and lakes everywhere. Villar d'Arene is a small alpine village which has got all the necessary facilities: bakery, restaurants... The flat is very modern and quiet, ideal to relax and recharge batteries. Kitchen is equipped with modern accesories and a big table to enjoy meals. The balcony is ideal to comtemplate the mountain. We used to have our breakfast here. The owners are very kind and always handy in case of need. Merci, Stephane.

    The breakfast was superb, so nice to be able to squeeze your own orange juice, and there was plenty of fresh fruit and pastries and a variety of breads. The balcony was large enough for a table and 2 chairs plus a deck chair. And the big plus was a small clothes line with pegs! Great for travellers! It was nice to be able to have evening meals on the terrace, as well as drinks on the bar terrace. We felt “at home “

    The hotel is located in a small traditional high mountain village. The rooms are simple but comfortable and look out over the village square. Dinner was excellent and also the abundant breakfast. The people running or working in the hotel were very friendly but professional and made me feel welcome. Definitely recommend.

    Great hotel with spacious rooms and excellent beds, located close to the nice village center. In particular the friendly cooperation with the hotel manager to arrange early breakfast and arranging a great, not highly expensive menu in the evening shows the great customer focus of this accommodation.
