Cromford is a lovely little village steeped in the history...

Cromford is a lovely little village steeped in the history of its industrial past - weaving and spinning, also lead mining. It has two mills which you can visit and some lovely pubs and cafes. A great bookshop too! The Masson Mill isa must for helping you to understand about the development of the mechanised weaving industry. Cromford Mill helps you to understand about Sir Richard Arkwright who was an entrepreneur and inventor. The Boat Inn is a lovely friendly little pub doing great meals - great for people visiting with dogs too! The Greyhound Inn was built by Arkwright to provide a place to stay for his visitors. The meals there were delicious too - the portions are generous and the home made pie was the best I had ever tasted. Scarthin Books is an amazing new and secondhand bookshop where you can browse for hours. It also has a lovely little cafe too. The staff are all helpful and friendly. There is only one little village shop, so you need a car to travel further to do any sort of supermarket shop. But there are cafes and fish and chip shops in the village. The Tor Cafe on the Derby Road junction is amazing for a breakfast. It's small but has an amazing menu.

Located in a beautiful area of the Derbyshire countryside,...

Located in a beautiful area of the Derbyshire countryside, on the edge of the Peak District; Cromford is a beautiful little village. The village has a rich history and lots of character. Steeped in industrial heritage, it's famously known as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, thanks to Sir Richard Arkwright's pioneering cotton mill. Today, visitors can explore the well-preserved mill complex, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering insight into the area's industrial past. Cromford Canal is pleasant attraction and there are many stunning countryside walks, including the nearby Cromford Moor and High Peak Trail. The village itself is dotted with lovely stone cottages, inviting pubs, and independent shops Matlock Bath, a seaside town in the heart of country, is just a short 10 minute walk and offers arcades, fish and chip shops, ice creams, pubs and entertainment.

    I love small little villages.

I love small little villages. Went to parkys cafe and had some lovely homemade vegan soup with a good pot of tea ....hate just a cup soo was over the moon. Also the bell Inn which I really liked 2 log fires , lovely warm feel to the place. Unfortunately the book store has now stopped dogs going in which I get but it's a shame as I would of liked to have a good look around plus believe they do some lovely vegan /veggie food. The walks are brill around that way short drive or within walking distance....overall a great place to kick your boots off after a good old walk

Really pretty, quaint, idyllic property with great access to the local village being just on the same road as many great spots, and just a short bus away from matlock bath and matlock(bus stop on practically the same road as the property) really well decorated and really comfortable, felt secluded and yet still in a great area for tourism, amazing.

Barn Owl cottage is beautiful. It had been decorated for Christmas which we loved and it had been heated up so it was really cosy. The location is excellent and is just a short walk into the village of Cromford. The views are stunning and we loved being on a farm. We were able to take our dog who loved it too!
