Booked with Jeremiah, caravan 0030 The Saltings. Beautiful caravan, 3 bedrooms, living room/kitchen, 2 toilets, one of those with shower etc. Spotlessly clean and had everything you needed. We booked as we was attending a wedding at East Mersea Hall and this was perfectly situated.

A lovely barge with a well appointed interior, good size lounge and kitchen and a comfy bed. I immediately loved it, made me want to live on a boat! What was also a really good feature was the outside space up on the deck, I couldn’t really utilise it as the weather was poor, but I did think it was very good. The property had everything you could need, a little home away from home. I had my puppy with me and he had a merry time, he especially enjoyed one of the doggy biscuits that were thoughtfully there in the kitchen alongside some dog bowls.

Bed was super comfy, large bathroom with nice fresh towels provided. The room wasn’t huge but perfect for 2 people. It was a nice touch to have fresh milk and cold water in the fridge provided. Really big mirror for getting ready. Clothes steamer provided, which you don’t often see. We had lovely weather so we were fortunate to utilise the courtyard space, this is shared with the other room but plenty of space for you all to sit. We went in the pub and had a few drinks on Saturday night, it’s a nice local with friendly people and staff. We went to bed around 10pm, there was noise from the pub still but it wasn’t overly loud and we were expecting it considering we knew we were staying at a pub, though it does still feel private and out of the way. It’s great to have a back entrance so you don’t have to walk through the pub if you don’t want to. The location didn’t really matter for us but it was perfectly centrally located!

We loved the property inside and out, close to the beach and a 2 minute walk to the club house from the location. The decor was beautiful and it was immaculate inside and out. Very comfortable and everything we needed!

The east side of the island it the quieter side of the island. Ideal for walking along the beaches when the tide is out. Nice country park as well. At least one pub and coffee shop on the main road. Excellent views across the estuary.

Mersea is very dog friendly which is important to us .

Mersea is very dog friendly which is important to us .Plenty of places to eat and drink.Lovely seafood available. We are an older couple so need to drive to travel the island. For younger people and families plenty of walking available. West has a little more to offer in terms of shops,cafes etc and East is lovely and quiet. Both are easily accessible . We love Mersea island and for us it is only just over an hour away from home by car so perfect.

It's a very nice area with beautiful views and is brilliant...

It's a very nice area with beautiful views and is brilliant for long walks along the sea wall or just on the beach, the kids loved crabbing when the tide was out and swimming when the tide was in, we stayed on Coppers Beach caravan site and it had everything we needed. we definitely will be coming back.

The site was good with enough facilities

The site was good with enough facilities The caravan was clean and had plenty of kitchen utensils, plates cups etc There was a welcome pack in the caravan 🙂 The wait times for food in the restaurant were absolutely ridiculous especially for the prices they were charging!

My sister and I both love seafood - and Mersea Island...

My sister and I both love seafood - and Mersea Island delivered. We ordered a seafood platter, which we picked up from The Dukes Seafood restaurant to enjoy out on our decking and went for a meal at The Company Shed - highly recommended, take your own drinks, their wine was very expensive. There was a lovely pub a few minutes walk from the site we visited that also served hot and cold food.

East Mersea is on the Blackwater/Colne Estuary of the East...

East Mersea is on the Blackwater/Colne Estuary of the East Coast of Essex. It has less shops eateries and amenities than neighbouring West Mersea but is great for families and those who prefer a quiet beach and appreciate nature. Dogs are allowed on the beach but owners seem to be responsible about cleaning up. There is a country park with an adventure playground and viewing platform. You can see Brightlingsea and St Osyth on the opposite shore and take a boat trip across. There is a boating lake nearby for watersports and inflatables. Colchester and Maldon are a short drive away and there are several nature reserves close by.
