Definitely need more than a couple of days to see all of the top attractions on the Royal Mile and the National Museum of Scotland. There’s many things to do so I’d really recommend following your own interests rather than following a tick box of must-see destinations. There are several bus tours which are a great way of seeing the castle, Arthur’s Seat and other highlights. We were most interested in art, so enjoyed getting another bus to Modern One and Two, and a train to the V&A at Dundee which was fantastic. Edinburgh is a must see. My granddaughter saw everything! We could walk everywhere once we go to the city center. We toured the Castle, Palace, Hiked Arthur's Seat, ate at Sheep Head Inn in Duddingston, Museum & Art Museum were great & free. Food was great everywhere. Bus & train system is easy to use. Good range of eating places, within easy reach of other places of interest eg highlands, Glasgow by train. Felt safe even at night.
