St Dolmen Apartment @ North Farm Cottages The whole compound looks brand new, it’s clean and tidy everywhere and just beautifully build within old farm buildings, granery etc. The apartment was top notch, the bathroom truly luxurious, the view over the fields to the sea and Duncaster Castle stunning. They have a public swimming pool and some houses even have private jacuzzis. Everything was what you want except from a luxury holyday home. But what made it special for me was there eye for the detail: on arrival there was a loaf of bread and some butter, fresh milk & orange juice, all locally sourced, as well as coffee, tea and sugar already provided. Especially on late arrivals that’s such a plus and was an unexpected surprise. Well done North Farm Cottages! Over all a great experience. The whole compound is very kids and family friendly, loads of room to play and roam freely for your little ones but still very quiet at night. At last: yes, St Dolmen Apartment IS A ROOF TOP ROOM WITH SLOPING ROOFS. I am 1.79m (5‘‘8ish) and had no real trouble with it, to be honest and unless you are really big or really drunk you shouldn’t have either. However, the stairs leading to the apartment ar pretty steep and there’s no elevator…

The hotel is incredibly beautiful. The room was very pretty and felt very luxurious. The lighting was beautiful and so was the bathroom. Everything you needed was available. The staf was very helpful, always down for a chat and available for any questions. The breakfast was big with lots of choices. Even the tableware was very photo worthy. Walking up the driveway felt like a fairytale to me. I would love to return.

Two great pubs to eat at, The Grey's Inn and The Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel. The Village Shop is well stocked. Great cafe at Dunstanburgh Golf Club. Easy walking distance to the beaches and sandunes and to Dunstanburgh Castle and Craster for their famous smoked kippers.

Embleton is a small village with a few pubs and petrol station/garage/shop (from which I received great service as I had a tyre puncture which the garage proprietor kindly sorted out for me.) I had an evening meal at the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel which I ate in their garden - excellent. I went back the following day for lunch and that was good too. I loved Embleton - pretty houses and gardens and very friendly and pleasant people.

    Embleton is well situated.

Embleton is well situated. The village is quite small but has lovely places to eat. We ate in The Grey’s Inn and the food was great. Just a short drive away is Seahouses with a harbour and restaurants serving the freshly caught fish. Bamburgh is also a short drive with a beautiful beach and a fantastic castle to visit. Holy Island Lindisfarne is a bit further up the coast and is another gorgeous place to spend a day- make sure you check out the tide times! Embleton is perfectly situated for all of these places.

Nice little village and a mile from the bay, with its long sandy beach, which is very accessible and clean. Not much in Embleton Village except for a couple of pubs and a convenience store, but fine if you have a car and is on the coastal road too with Craster and Bamburgh not far away.
