Room ideal for 2 persons. Free parking in driveway of house. Bathroom had all the basic necessities. There was tea/coffee/hot chocolate and biscuits in room every day together with a kettle. Room had tv with netflix. Wifi was good. Hosts were exceptional - could not have asked for better hosts. Breakfast was simply superb, a work of art, cooked just for us by host himself. And not just the traditional English breakfast, but also breakfast with asparagus and salmon. Ideal location to visit the Brecon Beacon area. Room is within walking distance of the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal.

We decided to spend Christmas in Wales as a family, somewhere where we could easily get to the mountains. We found Ty Daisy in Gilwern, near Abervegenny which turned out to be a real gem. The kitchen is very well equipped and large which was incredibly helpful as we were late booking Christmas dinner so had to cook. Very comfortable and well laid out house. Modernly furnished and exceptionally clean. The owners Fay and Chris are super hospitable and very nice people, sociable and helpful. We found lots of free stuff, champagne, biscuits, sausages, bacon, eggs. Really great place and we will definitely be back. I highly recommend it wholeheartedly.

The instructions were super clear, the rooms even though around the back were well lit and fully accessable. the room we stayed in was gorgeous! just a shame there were no stars to see through the unbeliveable skylight in the bathroom, which again, is to die for!

A pleasant town on the edge of the Black Mountains. Walk up to the church and churchyard at the head of the lane. There are fine views all the way round, and the gravestones comprise a history of the district and this distinctive part of Wales.

Gilwern is a good spot for the Brecon Beacons and associated nature. A small village with a garage and small shop. Some pubs nearby within walking distance, but most only serve food Thursday to Sunday. But Abergavenny nearby has plenty of choice.

Gilwern is an ideal base to explore the countryside, with easy walks along the canal and Abergavenny, and more challenging walks in Brecon Beacons. It's great for couples, families and nearly everywhere is dog friendly. Abergavenny has a great mix of independent shops, charity shops and markets. We loved being able to take our furry friend into the most of shops, cafes and pubs.

The Beaufort Inn sells good substantial meals.

The Beaufort Inn sells good substantial meals. Our 15 year old boy was happy with the quantity and quality. The canal is just up the road. You have one of the few flat walks in the area both ways. There are plenty of other less flat walks around. The Clydach Valley has beech woods. Great in autumn if it is dry. The cinema in Brynmawr is both good and great value.
