The breakfast was excellent, with a good selection of hot food, and the evening meals were very good both in the choices available and the quality and quantity served. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We found it a good location to explore Wensleydale.

Excellent family room. The staff made it though. Gay and Chris were so helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again and it was a shame we were only there for one night.

Beautiful and charming little spot! Cannot fault it - the pub is stunning and the rooms are separate, located just behind the pub. Room was spacious and well decorated and had all the amenities you could need. Nespresso machine and plenty of biscuits were a lovely touch!

We arrived early and were welcomed. The weather was awful - Middleham had had a good downfall of snow overnight, albeit a little early. We enjoyed a drink in the bar area whilst our room was ready. Our room was spotlessly clean, with an excellent view of Middleham Castle. We enjoyed a pre-dinner drink in the bar where we met Fiona - the proprietor. What a lovely lady. Our meal was excellent - could not be faulted. After a restful night's sleep, we were delighted to see that the snow has disappeared. Breakfast was absolutely scrumptious. It certainly set us up for the rest of today - Sunday 24th. Very nice to see the race horses being exercised. Fiona explained that Middleham is the Newmarket of the North - many riding stables in the area. Another visit is a MUST. Next time we will take our dog with us to meet Fiona!!

I chose the general area as a base for walking hiking. Kettlewell is perfect for that. The Blue Bell Inn came up in my search and seemed to offer everything that I needed. It more than exceeded my expectations offering great accommodation, wonderful food and a great bar with selections of beer and some excellent wine. The atmosphere was superb and I have make a big call out to the staff who made my stay a great experience. I will definitely choose this place again.

The cottage had a bright, welcoming interior that made us feel at home right away. It was clear that a lot of care and thought had gone into decorating and furnishing the space - everything from the furniture and bedding to the textiles and kitchenware was of high quality and tastefully chosen. The kitchen was particularly well equipped, with a full range of pots, pans, utensils, crockery, and glassware - not just the basics, but everything you’d need for proper cooking and dining. There were also a number of condiments, oils, and cupboard staples, presumably left by previous guests, which we really appreciated. It made settling in and preparing meals feel that much easier and more comfortable. Overall we had a lovely stay at the cottage, my partner and I enjoyed a very calming, refreshing weekend away and would be glad to return someday. The property was unexpectedly difficult to find. The postcode led us a bit further down the road, and we ended up wandering around the village for several minutes trying to match front doors with the listing photos before locating it. This isn’t a complaint as such - just something to be aware of. The remoteness is part of the cottage’s charm, but it’s worth noting that the area is more rugged than we expected. The drive in involves narrow country lanes, blind bends, and some steep gradients - often all three at once. If you’re not a confident driver or unfamiliar with rural roads, it’s something to consider before booking. A couple of minor practical points: I'd suggest the owner consider adding a doormat. Being in the countryside, we tried to avoid bringing in dirt, but without a doormat it was a bit tricky. Also, unless we somehow missed it, we couldn’t find a kitchen bin, which made dealing with food waste and general rubbish more awkward than it needed to be.

Small and quiet village, great friendly pub but unfortunately there was a shoot on so we couldn't dine in but they had takeaway pizza on a Saturday. Close to How stean gorge, just down the hill which is an interesting place to visit.

If you love to roam the hills and moors then Middlesmoor is ideal for you. If,however, any of your party don’t like to hike then it may be too remote. There is a nice pub just down the road with good beer and ok food.
