This is a very nice hotel with very pleasant staff. The rooms are spacious and a good size. Everywhere is very clean. Breakfast has very good quality food. The reason we gave it a fair is that the shower was faulty. The friendly staff at this hotel made our stay perfect. The hotel bar and facilities were excellent. I am now arranging a large party to stay here next year and enjoy the lovely hotel and well kept grounds. It was a joy to sit on the patio at the sports bar and enjoy the view if the grounds and lake. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff always checking your needs were Met. Newbury is surprisingly good for shopping we didn't get around half the shops..if only we had more time ..we spent time at Highclere Castle famous for the TV programme Downton Abbey quite a few surprises and lovely gardens again, it would have been nice to have more time to see the Horse racing and waterfall. I was staying overnight as part of a 2 day race meeting, 100 miles from home, Coincidentally, my visit was met by a piece of news that had grabbed the nation's attention. A model of Paddington Bear had recently been stolen by 2 misguided characters but happily had been found and restored to its location just a day or two earlier, I was encouraged by my wife to go and grab a photo. He is perched on a bench in a pedestrianised street near the River Kennet crossing of Bartholomew St. The town mid Saturday was very lively and pleasant and Paddington had his share of well wishers.Guest review byColin StevensUnited Kingdom - 10
