Northallerton has a great selection of real ale pubs, especially the Stumble Inn. The high street has every kind of shop you could want. Lewis & Cooper delicatesan store, Boyes, Yorkshire Trading Company, Original Factory Shop, Betty's, Edinbrough Woolen Mill, Lakeland, boutique clothing shops. It has some great restaurants too. 10 minutes by train to Darlington and busses to nearby towns. Market Wednesday and Saturday. Northallerton was 38 minutes from where we live. Quick train journey, giving you more time on your break. Saturday Market was lovely. Hot weather was a bonus, lots of lovely people. Northallerton is between the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks and is an ideal place from which to explore their beautiful scenery. The town itself has all the usual chain shops and supermarkets, but it also has independent shops such as Lewis and Cooper's delicatessen and Barker's department store. Staff in the bar in the evening were really friendly, and there was nothing too much trouble. The hotel itself is decorated really lovely. Outside seating area is lovely. Rooms are a bit dated but that didnt take away from the stay. We had a fantastic night sleep. Twin room was really big. A good size walk in wardrobe with iron, ironing board and hairdryer.
