Having stayed in a large chain hotel in Newbury only the night before my stay. The words that come to mind is chalk and cheese. The staff at the Beach were excellent polite well trained and looked to enjoy their jobs. The polar opposite to the night before. I didn't have a shower because I couldn't be bothered to get dressed then ask for a bath mat also not sure if the water would be warm/not enough Otherwise the heating eventually came On in the room but I was glad of the borrowed heater in the morning.
