We loved everything! It is a lovely, roomy and comfortable house to stay in. Lily is an amazing host who adds lots of special touches throughout the house so you feel very pampered. Lily is on hand for anything you need. We highly recommend staying here if you want to explore Cornwall. It was the most relaxing accommodation we had in our whole 5 week trip around the UK.

St. Austell is a working town not really a vacation destination. But it has excellent transport facilities - bus and train to all the major Cornwall attractions and is perfect for the Eden Project. I couldn’t find a Tescos or similar.

Buses to the Eden project left from the railway station which was 5minutes away. No buses to the Heligan gardens on a Sunday so had to take taxis. Great hotel next door - food was excellent and there was a Saturday cabaret which was excellent easy to get around St Austell

The town itself seemed tired and dreary.

The town itself seemed tired and dreary. It was hard to find the 'centre' - you need to park at Priory Car Park then walk. The surrounding area has plenty to see. Recommend Wheal Martyn Clay works (and Eden Project, of course!)

The best places to visit were Mevagissey and Charlestown, they both had an old world charm. Fowey was too commercialised and we failed to find somewhere to eat in Looe on Tuesday evening, which was surprising as it looked like a lovely place to spend some time.

St Austell town centre is dated and needs some TLC , but around the ring round is everything you need to make your stay great. Big Asda, lots of resteraunts, and the usual chains. There is some amazing beaches, countryside, walks in and around St Austell. And , it's a brilliant base for all things Cornwall, very well connected. Carlyon and Petewan beaches are fantastic. All in all, really good.

Staff were friendly, room was a good size and clean, good WiFi. We couldn’t get a taxi to meet friends in town, but it was only an easy 20min walk to our destination. Hotel had contacted us after booking to advise they didn’t do food and warned that as it was both a pub and an old building on a busy road it might be noisy and gave us the opportunity to cancel if that didn’t suit us - not many places are that fair. As we were out with friends until late it wasn’t a problem for us.
