There's almost zero reason to visit Stranraer itself; no ferries run from here now. I found one decent shop of interest, the little museam was ok and free. Stranraer is a little rundown after its fortunes were affected by the relocation of the ferry along the road to Cairnryan. Much of the harbour is run down with tatty parking bays for ferry vehicles. However there are hidden gems, the swan lido and park by the water, an ACTUAL tourist information office, helpful public library. Decent if rather retro restaurants - Chinese, pizza oven.
