Room was well decorated, warm and inviting with a very comfortable bed. Quiet as not in or attached to the pub. I was really only there to sleep for a couple of nights, but it is roomy enough with sofa and side tables, so using it as a base for a longer holiday would be fine. Breakfast menu has several options, all generous. Nice pub, told the food is great for lunch and evenings too. Rural, with nice country views.

A little outside Thirst in the quiet countryside, it definitely helped to have a car as we were able to visit the White Horse, Thirsk, and the Yorkshire Dales easily. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and the food was great.

Just loved the whole experience. Wished we were able to spend more time there. Got there around 7pm after a day of sightseeing and traveling. We didn't meet any staff, so at that point it was self checkin, which went fairly smoothly. Enjoyed evening swimming at the pool. And lovely walk around the gardens the next morning. Extended our time there to enjoy the facility. Much more than expected. Family wants to come back to spend more quality time.

Everything! Sue is very kind and hospitable! The room and adjoining dressing room and bath were nicely furnished/equipped, including an electric kettle with various hot drink options. Breakfast was exceptional! Lots of choices! Yum! The property is picturesque, and the chirping birds really add to the natural ambiance. Just lovely!

thirsk is not the biggest of places but it was very nice, only thing is, if you need a taxi, regardless if their is racing on or not, you cannot get one, it seems that the odd individual people have one car and thats it, there's no taxi company as such and its pot luck if you manage to get one.

Thirsk is a wonderful old market town surrounded by farms. Town centre is quite nice & charming. Some of the surrounding area is a bit run down. St. Mary's is a beautiful church, Monk Park farm is great for kids to see animals hands on. People are friendly. I could have stayed longer.

I can't really comment on Thirsk itself.

I can't really comment on Thirsk itself. It seems like a nice place. I only went for a few beers around the town but it was nice. We went there for a couple of days fishing, at woodlands fishery in thirsk. I wouldn't go to Thirsk town for a stag do but if I wanted a few beers after a day's graft it's bang on. I was there during the week though. So it's gonna be quieter isn't it. I might try it one weekend and see what happens. I'd definitely go back though. Nice place and nice people. 😀

Only in Thirsk for one day but lots to see and do; plenty of great places to eat and drink! World of James Herriot was excellent, really interesting from start to finish! Royal British Legion brass band playing in the square where we sat with old and young alike, and had a toe-tapping cuppa before browsing the shops. Lovely place!

Lovely market town full of historic buildings and lots of lovely cafes, pubs and excellent Italian restaurant. Thirsk is a good centre to travel to the moors and many visitor attractions. Really enjoyed the James Herriot house& museum in the town. Wonderful countryside all around but also has many small shops and a large Tesco. Near other places worth a visit, eg Ripon, York, Flamingo Park for kids, Fountains and Riveault Abbey and not too far to the coast & Scarborough, Filey etc

Cottage is beautiful and very comfortable in a quaint little private enclosed area with parking off the road. Loved the location so close to Market square and Thirsk center was perfect for a weekend break we thought and me and my wife really enjoyed the break. Will definitely return and would highly recommend this cottage. Facilities were great, had everything you need for a couple.

The location - just yards from the James Herriot Museum and a short walk to the town centre/marketplace. The house itself - it's lovely and charming, I could happily live in it! The beds are comfortable, the shower is excellent and all the rooms have nice decor. The welcome chocolates were much appreciated too! I would gladly stay again if visiting Thirsk in the future.
