Small town with some basic amenities, Small shops, chemists, coffee shops and takeaways. It is nestled at the bottom of a beautiful hillscape that goes on for miles. Their is a shopping outlet village just on the outskirts. 10 min drive from Alloa which has all the big supermarkets and other amenities. 20 mins drive gets you to Stirling, nice city with lots to do. I'd totally recommend it, I'll be coming back again & the setting is quite stunning. The hotel was budget but clean & comfortable... the bar was really friendly with locals who were full of chat & bants. The setting is quite beautiful actually at the foot of the Ochils... when you walk down the high street everyone wishes you a good morning with a smile! Lodge provides everything you’ll need and the under floor heating makes it super cosy even in mid February 😁 lovely path down the side of the lodges, taking you onto a walkway which goes in both directions towards Dollar and Tillicoultry. Parking is no problem. It is an excellent location for traveling in the Lowlands, but we also visited Loch Ness. Right in Tillicoultry, you can go for a walk in the countryside.
